Rick Brewster
This is not a bug, nor troubleshooting related. Moved to General Discussion Answer: Install 3.0. Hellfire010
Lol, it's ok. Everyone was new at one point. The gradient tool is simple. Make your primary color and secondary colors the colors you want in your gradient. Next, choose what kind you want from the bar just above the horizontal ruler. Then, just drag it to where you want and there ya go. Alternatively, you can make a solid shape next to a different color or transparent space and use gaussian blur from the effects menu. Rick Brewster
This also serves as a good quick tutorial, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5CBWpX08lk Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
kriskd
Lol, it's ok. Everyone was new at one point. Yeah, like me!! I am trying to get myself off MS-Photodraw -- this is such a different animal. The gradient tool is simple. I looked at that YouTube video and the gradient tool appears to be missing from my toolbox. Is there something I need to do to display all the toobox icons?
Rick Brewster
You need to have version 3.0 of Paint.NET installed. None of the tools are ever hidden from view. kriskd
Thanks, I think I got the gradient figured out after I uploaded. Question -- was this a new feature for 3.0 that wasn't in 2.72?
Rick Brewster
Yes. Hence why I said version 3.0 is required. Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
