PaintDrNet
This tutorial is available as a PDF. Click here to view or download it Here is what we are going to make Yes, i know. Cheap preview, but it was kind of rushed. Let's get started! Start off with a grey circle. Now add a radial gradient to it like this. Add An Oil Paint filter with The Brush Size Seto to 1, And the Caorseness 50. This is added to make it look more like metal. Now set the blending to color dodge. Now to add a little more detail. Make another radial gradient like this. Set the blending mode to Reflect, and opacity to 45 Now add a line to it Duplicate the layer and invert colors.Move it one pixel up, then set blending mode to Negation Done! Goonfella
Nice looking tut, although the gradients in your main image are wrong. You have the light coming from 4 different directions! barbieq25
Mirror is an easy way of getting the distances just spot on but if there is a reflection then it gets reversed (mirrored). I, too, have made this error. Most of us have. There are a couple of ways of doing this. You can duplicate the layer, select & move the second screw head (use rectangle select), repeat. You can try playing with the Align Object plugin. Alternatively, on a new layer, create a grid & use this as a guide for placing the remaining heads. Once they are placed you can delete the layer. PaintDrNet
Nice looking tut, although the gradients in your main image are wrong. You have the light coming from 4 different directions! As i said. It was a rushed preview image. It was just an example of what you could use the screws in. PaintDrNet
For a first tut the outcome is good ... I always look at tuts as something to interpret and try your own things on. This gives a great basis for screwheads Nice touch using Negation BTW I linked to your tut here http://forums.getpai...-viking-helmet/ I'll remove it if you want and put some more steps in Thanks!
