Can no longer use the magic wand make backgrounds transparent in paint.net 4.3.12

Recommended Posts

So I updated my paint.net and now if I use the magic wand on an image and press delete, the background just becomes black instead of transparent. Even if I save the image as a png and open it, the background is just black.

I used to be able to erase backgrounds just fine, but this happens even with images I edited before to make transparent. Any reasons why this might be happening?

Hi @caitikitty welcome to the forum.

You're using the backspace key. It fills the selection with the Primary color.

Use the Delete key to erase ;)
