Looking to save this image as .jpg or .png with irregular edge, i.e., transparent area not filled in with white to fit rectangular canvas corner. I know I have a lot to learn. Sincere thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum @TedBlew :)

I'll try to explain as easily as possible 😁

1.  If you save this as a .jpeg the background will show.

2.  If you save as a .png  the small irregular space will remain transparent.

3.  Remember that if you post the .png image with the transparency, that part will take on the color of the website, or wherever to post it.

I hope this makes sense.  I always get myself into knots when I try to explain this 🤣

If you save it as a .png file with a Bit Depth of Auto Detect or 32-Bit, the transparency will be preserved. The Bit Depth is specified in the last window that comes up when you save a .png file.
