Paint.net nowhere to be found

Recommended Posts

I give up.

I've been trying to install a plugin called 'Circular text'. I tried following the 'HOW TO INSTALL PLUGINS' thread. First with the free version, then with the paid version. The problem is I can't find 'Paint.net' on my pc. I've also tried tried to create the maps I'm supposed to in 'Documents'. I tried inserting the dll file in my newly created 'Effects' map and also the 'File Types' as one forum thread recommended.

The 'read me' file attached to the plugin tells me to download 'OptionBasedLibrary v0.7.9.dll' and 'OptionBasedLibrary v0.7.9.dlc files'. I found the files on Dropbox and have them now. They're old though, from 2015 I think. I don't know what to do with the, since I can't find my 'Paint.net' folder.

Hope this is the right place to post this cry of anguish. Any help would be much appreciated.

@Fashy Weaver, posting the exact same content in two places is frowned upon. I've deleted your other post.

No, it should be FileTypes. No spaces.

Place them in your Effects folder; just like the other plugin files.

Win7

Start > Computer > C:\Program Files\Paint.net

or

Start > All Programs (alphabetical file listing) > find Paint.net* > right mouse click* > Open File Location*.

Win10

Click on Win10 icon bottom left > Open: File Explorer > Open: This PC > Open: the system drive where Windows is currently installed (typically C:\) > Open: Program Files > find Paint.net

or

Simply > Win10 icon > All apps (all alphabetical listing) > then as for above* I think.

I cannot find it through any of these techniques. I have the Windows 10 version as purchased in the Microsoft Store, and cannot find the file location under Program Files or through Start > All apps. It's as if the program has no actual file location. Any other advice? I did try reinstalling paint.net as well.

Correct, you won't be able to access the files of Paint.NET if you installed from the Store.

If you are having issues launching the Paint.NET program, please verify it's installed by posting a screenshot of the Microsoft Store that shows Paint.NET is installed.
