ink sketch effect differences

Recommended Posts

Using an image w text that's 879x586- edit using ink sketch artistic effect -ink coloring+outline both set at 50. Viewed later with windows pic viewer looks perfect

Using the same image,  original version  5184x3456  edit using ink sketch artistic effect-same settings-coloring+outline set to 50, Viewed later with windows pic viewer looks quite different-not as good-and not able to reproduce the desired look on the big image

Any ideas why this would be, or how to remedy it so the big image looks as good as the small one?

Thank you-2 pics attached

The ink sketch effect was designed for smaller images (target size was 800x600).  Larger images, as you have discoverd, just won't look as good because of the algorithm used.

If you want, you could try...

  1. Open the large image
  2. Image Resize the image down to about 800x600
  3. Run Ink Sketch
  4. Image Resize the image back up to the full size (use Nearest Neighbor method)

Off topic I know, also fairly new to PDN and art work.

Out of curiosity.

Don't you loose "quality" when sizing down and then resizing up a picture?

I mean... There are less pixels in the smaller image... No?

Always had that impression...

Thank's.

thanks for letting me know the program was not designed for large images. The original image is clear-it's over 4MB, and is to be shown on a 10'x15' screen, so I think using a smaller image blown up won't be clear enough unfortunately

It's just the Ink Sketch effect that's design for small images; not the whole program itself.

(September 25th, 2023)  Sorry about any broken images in my posts. I am aware of the issue.
