johnz
Uninstall fails because uninstall/install unable to locate file: PaintDotNet_x64_1762210931 Although similar files are in the "Staging" folder, this one is not. Operating Windows 10. Any help on getting Paint.net working is most appreciated.
Ego Eram Reputo
Go here: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/692-install-update-or-uninstall-trouble-read-this/ and read post #2 about the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. That should take care of any stray bits of paint.net left in your system. A number of forum users are also using Revo Uninstaller for the same purpose - see http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/106722-can-not-install-408/?p=510518 Next, here's a possible solution if you have access to another PC which either has paint.net 4.0.9 or it can be installed on http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/21378-accidentally-deleted-installation-folder/?p=370712 and if all else fails: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/21262-im-missing-paintdotnet-419667103/?p=354183 Quote ebook: Mastering Paint.NET | resources: Plugin Index | Stereogram Tut | proud supporter of Codelab plugins: EER's Plugin Pack | Planetoid | StickMan | WhichSymbol+ | Dr Scott's Markup Renderer | CSV Filetype | dwarf horde plugins: Plugin Browser | ShapeMaker
johnz
Thanks. Used the 2nd PC option. Need to copy over both program and app data files. Works fine. Appreciate the help.
skickahit10
I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and after that I couldn't run Paint.NET anymore, and when I tried to re-install it I got the famous 1603-error. Also, I couldn't uninstall it (kept getting an error message). The solution for me turned out to be uninstalling Paint.NET using IObit Uninstaller - http://www.iobit.com/en/advanceduninstaller.php After uninstalling Paint.NET using it, and also allowing it to remove all the posts related to Paint.NET in the Windows registry, I could re-install Paint.NET without any problem.
