Dachimotsu Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 (edited) I recently installed the latest version of Paint.net (version 4.0.8). The basic tools work fine, except for the line tool. No matter what colors I have selected, nothing appears when I draw with it. Line width and type don't matter, nor do Style, Fill, or Blend types. The nubs also don't appear until I let go of the left mouse button. None of the plugins I have installed mess with the line tool (as the same plugins exist on my other computer, and the effects are not replicated there). Edited December 31, 2015 by Dachimotsu Quote
Ishi Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Well there's an issue about that on the previous version of PDN which is 4.0.7 which was immediately updated after such bug was found. If you have done the update through the built-in updater in PDN, try installing PDN 4.0.8 using a standalone installer which you can download from this link. http://www.dotpdn.com/downloads/pdn.html Quote
Rick Brewster Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Plugins can't mess with the line tool, so you're certainly right about that. Can you include the status bar in your screenshot? And the layers window (is the layer you're drawing on visible? any other layers on top of it?). I cannot reproduce this. The info in the status bar, e.g. the length and angle of the line, may be able to help. It's strange that the Finish button in the toolbar is greyed out. The info in the status bar, e.g. the length and angle of the line, may be able to help. It's strange that the Finish button in the toolbar is greyed out. There is one layer. It's Opacity is at max, and the blending type is Normal. The status bar says the usual things in the bottom-right, but information about the line object that normally appears in the bottom-left is missing entirely. (For that part, that's how it's supposed to work.) I've never had this problem, so I guess I never noticed. Quote
Rick Brewster Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Does the Shapes tool work? (Shapes and Line/Curve are about 99% the same. They differ primarily in which shapes they let you draw with. Line and Curve are "shapes" in the code.) Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
Rick Brewster Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 See here for a workaround/fix: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/106728-line-tool-is-not-working/ I'll be sure to fix this for real in the next update. OMalleySUI Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Hi there, as a total newbie let me first say "Hello" from Switzerland. The issue related by Dachimotsu seems to occur after having exceeded a certain amunt of layers, in my experience 10 or so. My workaround has been: merge some layers, save the project, reopen it and the line tool would work again. Quote
Rick Brewster Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Dachimotsu's issue was caused by a bug that's been fixed in version 4.0.9. Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
