A background layer is exactly what it is - a background, kind of like a blank canvas
Anything you want to modify (drop shadow / outline feather etc..) has to be on it's own layer. Each layer can allow you to manipulate what ever it is your working on, so each layer can be modified with any effect you wish to use on it

In order to get it to work, it has to be used on a separate layer, it won't work on a background layer

Your best way is using keyboard shortcuts - Ctrl + C to copy and then Ctrl + Shift + V to paste it into a new layer

A problem with your browser perhaps ? As Rick say's it just seems to be an issue at your end. I have no re-directing going on when I click anywhere on here.

I have the same question as above, why is it just EdHarvey.Effects.dll and EdHarvey.Effects.pdb? Is it more convenient this way or is there some other reason? (The plugins do work, though)
To quote Null54 here "The pdb file provides debug information if the plugin crashes"

RFX - I think the graffiti style works really well, perhaps with smaller font it would work even better.
Chimay12321 - The 3D ness (as yellowman put it) really works for me, a great sig all round.

Seeing some of the examples here of what this plugin can do is really impressive. I hope to have a play around and try to come up with something too. Top marks davidf for writing this, kudos to yellowman & Red ochre for showing us what can be done.

Nos - your colours are really good, but I think the cream border around your font is a little too deep, it would have worked better with less if you see what I mean, I wish I could give half a point for it but sadly can't.
Nitenurse79 - Love the tiled effect on the background and the font depth, great use of colour too. It looks like a great deal of work has gone into it.
