All those examples I gave were examples of why none of the current tools I have work well.

If you just wanted a suggestion though for how to do word bubbles better, if when you put down a word bubble like in 2, if you could like grab the point like you would a line and just drag it where you need and base of the point just automatically slide around to be closest to where you drag the point. That would help a lot. Would help a bit more if the whole bubble had grabbable points around for easy, fast minute adjustment.

You were right. It was he old tool, compared to using just the paint brush the freeform shape tool is just a lot quicker and easier to use and you end up with it looking somewhat better. I've decided to try and give a visual example of all the current methods I have at my disposal. Extra hard as I haven't logged into imageshack in years.
Lets see, I actually hand draw my pictures so the little mouths I made suck as I mouse drew them.

The first example is what I do now. I use the paint brush, I have to move a little slowly resulting in lots of wobble, the arrow tends to clump up and the lines have to intersect or I end up with space between the lines. I can move a lot faster with the freeform tool due to the little straight line on it that helps guide me and there is no intersect. So it ends up with less wobble and a little neater and a little faster.
The second is the built in word bubble shape. Problems self-evident.
Third, lots of wastes space, the arrow still doesn't quite point where it needs to and to make matters worse I have to use one of those annoying UI windows so thats a lot of extra time spent.
Fourth is the polygon tool, probably the best looking one, though its squareness can lead to confusion, but it also ends up with the intersecting lines and i has a super annoying UI that requires I use a whole different window making the polygon excruciatingly time consuming. Probably would be faster to just use the line to tbh.
So yeah, thats why I want the freeform shape tool. It just does things a bit better and faster then just the brush. Its not a major large world shattering feature that allows for things to be done that can't be done otherwise.
Its just convenient and nice to have.

Neither of those work as they can't be wrapped around the text. My words are just stuffed into whatever free space is available so I need the word bubbles to fit the words exactly with no wasted space and usually in weird shapes. And both of those options are super inefficient, and waste a super ton of space. Plus the speech bubble shapes's arrow isn't adjustable. But I can take the answer to my question from the implications of what you all said. No one has made that kind of plug-in yet.

The freeform shape tool. Like the lasso but with lines instead of selection.
Polygon might work if it can do rounded edges. I just like to hug word bubbles to the words. And I can't post examples, sorry.

Is there a freeshape tool plug in? I use it to make space efficient word bubbles.

The wobble looks fine. Just ha a lot of steps involved in its use. I have to make a new layer, draw, wobble, then compress. Takes a bit too much time to do.
-
That curly line plug-in... is way too complicated and time consuming to use. And the wobble, well the appearance resulting is good enough. Not sure, if I'm going to be able to make good use of it as I need to draw my lines on separate layers to work it, if not I'll just delete it and be back to pure paint.net. Thanks.

Is there a plugin that can make circles and lines like the circle and line tool, but uh... wigglier? Like as if they were hand drawn?
-
I never understood curves or how it worked. But wow I think using clouds (I didn't know that function had any use but making clouds) set to additive actually works perfectly. Thanks. I give up quick because its embarrassing.

Color saturation set to zero creates a lot of black. If it wasn't for the black it would be great but, the black ruins it. Guess there isn't a way, thanks anyway.
-
Is there anyway, without any plug-ins as I like to keep paint.net clean, is there anyway to achieve a monocolor noise? Because I've been trying to get a white noise effect to spread evenly so I can crystalize then dent it for a liquid effect but regular noise fills it with black and frosted glass keeps most of the white in the center. Right now I'm using 25% paintbucket, which kind of works, but if there was some way for me to achieve a sort of monocolor seed effect it would be better I think. Thank you.

Thanks I'll give it a shot.

Whats the simplest way to give something a metallic look? Because I have a bunch of random pieces of scrap metal I'm trying to make look like well scrap metal. I don't need top quality just a simple method. I used the search on the beginner tuts and came up empty.

Just wanted to say I found the most efficient way of returning a smaller image into a bigger one is to take advantage of the fact when you paste an image it always goes into the upper left hand corner. So if you zoom in then use the pan tool to align the image so the selection box's left hand corner is lined up with your screen's left hand corner, when you paste it'll paste in right where it needs to be. And its a whole lot easier to just line up your screen with the box then to try and line up the smaller image with the bigger image. A ton easier.
Kind of would be nice if there was a hotkeyed plug-in though to auto align screen with selection box still. But still its a massive improvement to any of the alternatives.

Void.

Cool all, thanks.

I used freeform tool as well.

I wanted to try out animating stuff to see how hard it was. Since I can't afford flash animating program. I was thinking about just trying to create 20 different panels per second. But then I thought, hey maybe there are some paint.net users that animate things. So I decided to ask if there were any free alternatives to Flash.

The spacing only took me a week to get used to and automatically compensate for when painting. So if you practice enough you should get used to it and stop having a problem with it. Also Rick already said in another thread he had the idea of making it adjustable eventually.

There is no reason to be bummed out, assuming you can find an unofficial download. It just means you'll have to be staying with the version of paint.net you love forever. Unchanging. Forever.

Sorry if I sound Bitter. I was just responding to
Users already have the option to check for beta versions when they check for updates from within the program. I don't know what else you think would be possible to do. Flashing banner at the top of their Paint.NET screen? Email in their personal account that they never gave? Default canvas automatically has "Paint.NET 5 Beta Now Available!!!!" on it? All of that would be invasive and creepy.
Is there a free shape tool plugin?

The results you all gave look really good. TR, Racer and Cc4. Thank you. I'll try them, once I figure out what the words you said to explain it mean. I'll start with the first one on top, then the second, then the third. So I guess first I have to find this boltbait outline plug-in thing. And delete all these other plug ins. No telling how the third party software will interact with other third party software you know.
Edit: Oh CC4 linked it. And two other things,
