Delete them from Documents\Paint.NET User Files\Custom Brushes

Also, I haven't followed the link but I doubt it's an official download for GIMP - it could be a trojan.

Quick note- not every web browser supports the animated PNG protocol. If you're planning to use this on a website, make sure the site is still usable even without the APNG.
There's also a script that can allow PNGs to animate in browsers with canvas support.
The link to the utility has been suspended.
Thanks. I've edited the post to link directly to the project and emailed the admin of the APNG site.

mines in subfolders and works that way.. just saying
They're directly in the effect's folder as well. For example, AA's assistant is a dpy plugin.
Simon that is in directly in the effects folder. I had put it in there years ago before and now having new a laptop it's not showing in the effects menu in paintnet. Mountain where is the subfolder?
Only the plugins by Pyrochild are directly in your effects folder. DPY's plugins are in a sub-folder.
When you download the zip, right-click on it and select Open With -> Windows Explorer, then extract using that.

The effects need to be directly in the effects folder, not in sub-folders.

Click the wrench. Go to Options -> Under the bonnet and click "clear auto-opening settings" under Downloads.

The license says you can't. I'm guessing it's okay to use them in software you don't redistribute, but I'm not certain.

I have a draft of a tutorial I'm writing on how to do this, but it's quite hard to follow. In the future, I may add a tool that automates part of it.
-
Inkscape can as well.

Is the background transparent in the save preview? If so, try clicking the "default" button in the dialog before clicking OK.

i think i am having the same problem-- when i click on my name link in the top right it takes me to my profile-- the drop menu wont stay up to let me go to the messages center- now if i get a new message i can click on the alert and go there, but not just any time.. figured it was my settings and was trying to find a way around it, but if others are having the same issue.........
Here's a link to the message centre:

I think pdnnoob means that even though an image can be partially transparent, the canvas must be rectangular.

It's adsense, ads don't have to be manually approved (although I think Rick has the ability to block specific ones). A similar thing is also happening to VLC, unfortunately.
If you want to refer friends to Paint.NET without worrying about them downloading the wrong thing, direct them to cnet's Paint.NET page.
-
Alternatively, you could create a copy of your Paint.NET directory with the effects and filetypes folders empty and put it somewhere else. Make sure you do this every time you update to a new version.
-
Using APDN files should be similar, except that IE doesn't play them.
Only Firefox and Opera currently support APNG, unless you use APNG canvas.

This tutorial shows you how to use rules in IndirectUI to selectively disable controls and create a "constrain sliders" option.
I wrote this a while ago in response to a question by Cookies, but I decided I should publish it properly.

There isn't. What do you want to remove? If it's objectively unhelpful I may be able to blacklist it in an update.

I recommend reading this tutorial. As for PNG vs JPEG, JPEG is lossy, which means quality is sacrificed to reduce file size. This happens every time a JPEG image is saved, so I suggest creating a PDN copy for editing (which is basically PNG with layers). Once you're finished, create a JPEG copy of the PDN to upload to your website to reduce load time and bandwidth consumption.
-
i can see where it is hard to find-- took me awhile, the programs i used before PDN always had a cut button to click
Paint.NET has a cut button.

'Please' I can live with. It shows good manners after all.
'Help' requests can be purged IMHO.
With the rules Rick suggested, the warning wouldn't show if the title was over a certain length.
Now, is it actually possible?
If there's no native way to do it with IPB, it could be done with a javascript file added to the default theme (it wouldn't need to make it impossible to post a thread with a bad title, just discourage it).

I do like the idea of a prompt at login though. I wonder if we could publish a handful of the most transgressed rules on the login page with a link to the rest.
Something like:
- Click Utilities -> Check for Updates (or Help -> Check for Updates) before asking a question.
- Give your thread a descriptive title. "How do I cut out an image?" is better than "HELP!!!".
-
Search to see if your question has been answered.
- Pay attention to the forum you're starting a thread in.
- Write in English and avoid 1337sp34k.
With a way to refer back to it.
If IPB supports them, things like displaying an error when a thread title is vague seem like the best solution, but I'll try and keep this thread focussed.

The number you type in for size-- what exactly does the number reference? The number of times the brush size will be multiplied?
The diameter in pixels.
