Member AnthonyScoffler was working on a brush effect as well but I think it is still a work in progress.
@AnthonyScoffler, can we please get some current information on this?

@poor, if you copy and paste the raw url of the YouTube video in your post, it will automatically embed the video here on the page. People are more inclined to watch if it's embedded.

When there are plugins where there is no Author then that plugin is not listed when listing by Author, rather than showing a blank in the Author column (or show "Unknown"?)
I never noticed 'blank authors' were excluded. I'll have to resolve that in the next version.
What's worse is that some of my own plugins show no author. How'd that happen?! I'll have to update my plugin pack too.

I answered the question you asked. However, let me clarify: plugins can not change/mod paint.net's tool or features.
The Custom Brushes plugin is your best option at this time.

"save as" should Flatten my image automatically in the background and don't change any history in right History panel.
I agree; mostly. Having to 'Undo' after a 'Save As' can be a nuisance.
Personally, I would like Save and Save As to only work with project files (.pdn, .ora, .psd)
The single image formats (.png, .bmp, jpeg) would be made available in an Export menu item.
However, I certainly understand why it is step the way it is, and it too has its merits.

You're looking for shopping advice in regards to Christmas tress and decorations? Then you posted some Christmas art tutorials?
I have no idea what's going on in this forum topic.

Version 1.1.0.1 posted.
When downloading the plugin index from the forum, The Plugin Browser was using the default text encoding of the OS. This caused an issue for non-latin locales.
The Plugin Browser now explicitly uses UTF-8 encoding when doing the download.

when I run the plugin he wants to download new plugin index, resulting in the error:
"the index is outside the bounds of the array"Thanks for reporting this. I have confirmed the issue on a Russian installation of Windows. I'll try to resolve the issue this coming weekend.

Good job.
Any special reason you used "Grad Percent" in the UI, instead of "Gradation Percent"? It could confuse some people, as 'Grad' can be an abbreviation for a few things.
Reminds me that I need to finish my Lite-Brite plugin I started many months ago.

@NomBot, I see you've posted an update. It is customary to update the topic's Title to include the most recent Release Date and/or Version Number. That way people can see if there's an update (or not) without having to open the topic.

I have tried installing this on Windows 10 and Windows 7 and in both in crashes paint.
I've updated the effect using the original source code provided by @archip in the first post.
Fixes:
- No longer crashes
- Faster and more efficient
- Works properly on non-rectangular selections

Sorry, that feature does not exist in paint.net.

I think the term "Size" (on the first control) is a bit misleading. I think "Arm Length" or something similar would be more accurate.

You need to reinstall .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. That should correct the error you're getting with paint.net v3.5.x.
However, to use paint.net v4, you'll need to be running Windows 7 or newer.

I have, Windows 8.1
Oh, my mistake.

Windows 8.1 is fine.
Reboot your computer, and then try to install .NET v4.6.2 using the offline installer. Download it here:

Showing those error snippets without the full log is pretty useless.
Why not just update your Windows 10 to the Anniversary Update? Kill two birds with one stone.
-
If you're using Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1607) or newer, you already have .NET Framework v4.6.2 installed.
Otherwise, you could try clicking on that blue "log file" from your screenshot.

How do I know what size I am dragging it to? Is there a video on this subject?
It shows that information in paint.net's status bar.
"Bounding rectangle size: ...."

I am trying to resize a photo with the drag tool not the resize tool and I can't remember how to do it, can you help me?
After making a selection, switch to the "Move Selected Pixels" tool (). You'll then be able to resize the selection by clicking and dragging the control nubs.

Yeah, looks like SetupNgen.exe is failing for whatever reason.
It should have its own log file in the Windows temp directory. See if that has any information in it.
Here's the full file path:
%temp%\pdnSetupNgenInstall.log

Sorry, no. Paint.net requires Microsoft Windows.

Maybe @gaz is looking for this one from Simon Brown:

The search box on this forum is in the top-right corner.
1. Select Inches in the status bar
2. Select Resize in the Image menu
3. The "Help" menu is on the far right

Automating it with a plugin shouldn't be too difficult; it would only require basic trigonometry.
