If I understand you correctly, you want to create a composite image from a few photos that were taken at an interval? Is that right?
Like this person did?

Rick was saying that you installed 'World of Tanks' from the Windows Store, not paint.net.
-
This is a sign that your paint.net installation has become corrupted in one way or another.
Please use this utility to remove your current paint.net installation:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/mats/program_install_and_uninstall
Afterwards, you can install paint.net anew.

Update posted. Download in first post.
Earlier today, someone posted an issue over on Github about not being able to drag-n-drop images onto the launcher's exe. I have resolved the issue.

You can't.
I recommend learning the keyboard shortcuts.

Can I somehow merge them? I would appreciate it really if I could have ONE toolbar with all the toolbox icons?
The Toolbar already contains all the Toolbox icons.
6 minutes ago, pstein said:Even more: It would be good to make the toolbar (and toolbox) customizable.
The Toolbar can be customized to a degree:

Make sure you also install the IrfanView plugins. They're available from that same site.
That will allow IrfanView to read more filetypes, including .pdn.
-
That is not something a paint.net plugin can do.
However, IrfanView can batch convert .pdn files to .png files. You should use that.

See that padlock icon on your file there in your screenshot? That means you are not the owner of the file, or otherwise don't have write permissions.
Click on the "Security" tab, and take a look at the details it gives you.

This is pretty self-explanatory. I assume you're just looking a confirmation?
In paint.net, click on File, and then click on Save As.

You could try enabling MSI logging, and it may give you a hint to what's going on.
msiexec /i PaintDotNet_x64.msi /L*V PdnMsi.log

Looks like you opened an image file that is on a CD, and then tried to save the modified image back to the CD.
Or if not a CD, it was a file that was otherwise set to read-only.

A load dialog? As in a dialog to select and open a file?

The unshaded 24-bit height map will always look rather random, because the way colors are assigned isn't intended to be meaningful without shading.
Ok, that explains it. You're right, it's not an issue with the shading options applied.

When changing the "Clipboard Image Rotation", the image gets a bit noisy... except when set to right angles (0, 90, -90, 180).
Are you using any Interpolation when the image is rotated?

That means paint.net was previously installed on your system, but the install has since become corrupted in some way or another.
Please use this utility to remove paint.net:
Afterwards, you should be able to install paint.net anew.

Here's an issue: The "Refresh" button is not properly anchored in the window.

Now most of the tutorials I have found require the earlier version 3.5.
What makes you say that?
Nearly everything in v3 works the same way in v4.

How do I always get the former kind where I can control the percentage of compression and therefor the file size?
Use a format that uses lossy compression. For example, JPG is lossy.
PNG is lossless, and thus the lossy compression slider is not applicable for this format.

It's important to note that BoltBait's installer is more of a Self-Extractor, rather than a traditional installer that makes all kinds of changes to the system.

Instead of using the New Layer button, use the Duplicate Layer button. Then draw the beach balls on the layers afterwards.

Hello, can you please make sure the Graphics Driver for your system is up to date?
This is the latest version for your CPU/GPU (Intel 2117U):

Hey TreyH,
Which colorspace did you specify when loading the RAW file? Or did you try all of them?
paint.net 4.0.12 is now available!

Final as in non-beta; v4.0.12 became stable and no more test builds (betas) were need. Thus, v4.0.12 final.
The final is specific to the particular version, and does not mean 'final paint.net'.
