Alpha masking yes, layer blend modes yes, layer masking...almost. Wait a bit...I think it's planned for a 4.0 release.
Alpha masking is a plugin, located in the plugins forum. Welcome!

Very nice...welcome!

I've actually used this for the logo on my site redesign. You can see it at http://www.carbonize.co.uk/New
You will see I cut out the text then redid the letters in black, blurred them, moved them down a layer and then flattened it.
Very nice! Web page looks good...may I suggest alpha masking instead of cutting out the text? Gives about the same effect.

Eh...it's just a quick contrast adjustment. :? And you can change the level of brightness with Brightness/Contrast. However, Grayscale may fit better with the effect than "black and white". Sepia isn't "turn orange".

Looks eerily close to something in my sig...

You know...I'm sure there's an "animated rain in Paint.NET" thread around the tutorials somewhere... :?
Missed the "animated" part, but here's how to make rain: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1288

Nice font by the way.
I agree. What is it?
-
Well I hope you won because that's very nice!!
Quoted for truth.

Very nice!

Ooo, I'm loving this one very much.
EDIT: TheVoid: just been looking back and your style is very cool indeed. Keep it going.
Ridiculously awesome!

They'll still be around, no worries...but some of them might be obsolete. With the changes Rick is doing with 3.20, it looks as if stuff like Zoom Blur Deluxe and Radial Blur Deluxe might be incorporated...so there would be no need to have duplicate effects. In that case all you have to do is go to your Effects folder and delete the plugins you don't need anymore.

Something I cooked up today in one of my rare moments of free time. Why does everything I do eventually turn out grungy? Oh well.
-
Apparently there's a million different ways to skin a cat...I use me a little Surface blur.

Sweet...an update! Thanks Illnab!

verndewd, I would just like to take this moment to say that if there was a "Most Improved PdN-er" award on this forum, you would definitely be the recipient. In the time you've been on the forum, your work has gone from --let's be honest-- rather shoddy to simply astounding in an incredibly short amount of time. Not only is your work impressive, but the time it takes you to do it simply blows my mind. Lately, you're probably one of the most frequent (if not THE most frequent) poster in the Pictorium, and everything youu've done lately has made me jealous. Keep up the good work. Yar.
Quoted for truth.

This...made my day. I was having a crappy day but somehow this announcement makes it all better...
-
@uH: Very very nice. I like it a lot.
@Madjik: Iz good, but imho I like the old ones better. The new av/sig seems a bit...generic. :?

This is being added in the next update.

Another one. 100% Pdn 8)
It's official...TheVoid has too much free time.
Just kidding man, continue churning them out and I'll continue being a fan.

Quick image I edited of my beautiful sisters. It's my desktop wallpaper at the moment.
And yes, I messed with the contrast and it's dark on purpose.
Thanks go out to the shadow/highlight recovery tool and surface blur (to remove grain).

Yay tutorial!

Man...the things you miss out on in a week...
Um...good job people...carry on (my wayward son).

Halloween, polar inversion, default effects only. Someone decide! :?

started with clouds , used map gradiants black red yellow, some dents streched real long 90 degree upwards, some motion blur then polar cut sections I liked the color made about 4 or 5 layers different twist+ and obliques. then merged together the layers.
OMA
Wow. +10 for skill. Thanks a million!
