  1. PDN5.0.12Settings.png.79651ca9dafdf45d4bac734adeb63054.pngHi there!

I've read on the forum that I can set PDN to automatically check for program updates by using the Settings tab and clicking on the 'Update' section. I've just installed 5.0.12 (as a portable app) and can't see that option in my installation. Is this b/c of the portable installation, or am I missing something?? Thnx in advance for your response.

    Kind Regards, Charles

I would guess you've installed pyrochild's plugin pack into the Effect directories in both Program Files and Documents. Please check both locations.

There are also tooltips on the menu items in the Effects menu that will tell you the file locations.

Thnx so much toe_head2001!! I checked your suggestion and indeed I found I had installed pyrochild's plugin pack into two locations (on in Documents and one in the Effects folder on my USB -- I use a portable version of pdn)! Again, thnx so much for you speedy reply and your help in getting this pesky problem sorted for me!

    Kindest Regards

  3. I have a weird issue... There are some duplicated entries in the Effects menu and in the Adjustments menu. I've checked the Effects folder and can't see duplicate .dll files there. Not sure where the files for the Adjustment menu are located. In the Adjustment menu I see duplicates of:

    • Color Match...
    • Curves +...
    • Gradient Mapping...

In the Effects menu I see duplicates of:

    • Advanced > ScriptLab...
    • Artistic > Splatter...
    • Blurs > Gradient Blocks... & Pixelate+...
    • Distort > Jitter... & Stitch...
    • Many others...

    Pls see attached screenshots.

    No plugin errors noted.

Happened in pdn 4.2.10 and now in 4.2.12

Has anyone seen this or have a fix?

    Kind Regards

    Charles

I must admit I'd be tempted to go @Pixey's route.

Grid Warp can technically do it ... this took 5 minutes with a grid size of grid-ex.png and zoomed in .

It could be fine tuned again by reopening Grid Warp and changing the Grid Size.

I guess it's a case of how finessed you want it, how much you want it ... and how much soul you've got left to destroy ...

This made me realise a mouse and keyboard function combined, would be great in Grid Warp.  Then you could get it pretty much spot on.

Cut it into segments and Tube Oblique doesn't do a bad job.  Loses a lot of quality tho'

Thnx @welshblue... I really liked @pyrochild 'Grid Warp' plugin, but it was very fiddly even with small grid sizes (though I didn't get down to 20x20)! As you say, with mouse and keyboard support (esp. up, down, left, right arrows) I think it would be even easier! It would also be good if the plugin allowed movement in only one direction, that is, vertically or horizontally so that I could 'uncurl' in one direction only. Don't want to destroy my soul at all if possible!! 😁

You can use the free ScanTailor software that has a Dewarping function and also a light equalization function.

@xod... that is just AMAZING!!!! This must the the program I have been waiting for, especially for musical notation images that are very complex (but badly distorted). I have downloaded the program and will give it a go when I get home!!! Thnx Thnx Thnx!

Hello @deselrahc and Welcome to the forum :)

I doubt it is possible to un-bend as the lines will become somewhat distorted.

I think you would be better off making it yourself in Paint.net.  You can draw the lines with the line/curve tool and you can make the notes found in @lynxster4's Plugin pack found here.   I would keep the lines on one layer and then add the musical notes accordingly on new layers, before you flatten.

Thnx @Pixey I will give that a try! I hadn't thought of doing it that way... I was so focussed on doing it 'my way' that I hadn't explored regenerating the image, so your suggestion was very helpful! I think for simple musical notation images this would be ideal!

    Cheers

  7. Does anyone know a plugin that will allow me to 'uncurl' an image?

I have a photocopy of a page of music (see link below) and would like to straighten it so it is more readable. Any ideas how this could be done? I have used some of the 'Distort' plugins such as TechnoRobbo's 'Distort this!', MadJik's 'Oblique',  and dpy's 'Perspective' without much luck. Have also tried pyrochild's 'Grid Warp' which was quite good but too sensitive.

If there is a plug in that might work, I'd love to hear about it!

    Kind Regards
