tiff1496
Is there any way I can make my pic black and white and then add a little color to it? Thanks for your help!!!
Darren
Yeah, the way you make a picture black and white is done by simply making the layer black and white. If you just make a new layer over your black and white picture you can colour it how you like. If you want me or someone else to go a bit deeper then just say so... SearedIce
First, make the image black and white in the Layer->Adjustments menu. Then use the Recolor tool to recolor areas of the photo. Read the Help File for info regarding usage of the recolor tool. If you have questions about how to use it, just ask here! -John
Rick Brewster
Another good way is to: 1) Make the layer black and white (Layer -> Adjustments -> Black & White). This actually desaturates the image, but we give it a simpler name. 2) Create a new layer (Layers -> Add New Layer) 3) Set this layer's blend mode to Multiply (Layer -> Properties) 4) Now color on the layer using the Paintbrush tool! (This probably works better than using the Recolor tool) Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
SearedIce
Interesting! I love how there are so many different ways to do so many different things!
Rick Brewster
The method I listed also lets you keep the coloring separate from the image. Easy to erase the stuff you've done, redo it, etc. Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
sabrinafair2
I tried exactly what you guys said but it isn't working. When I do paint brush, it acts as if there is no second layer. I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong... BTW this is a tutorial for selective coloring like this picture: Right?

BuzzKill
You're welcome! I hope that helps you out. Also, you may want to look here: http://paintdotnet.12.forumer.com/viewt ... ight=#5512 , look at "Quickmasking" as it describes one of many methods on isolating an object in an image.
