MrPickle Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Paint.NET keeps freezing, it works fine for a couple of seconds then for another second it freezes, this is a continuous cycle until I close the program. Quote
david.atwell Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 What are your computer's specs? Quote The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A good wizard tricked it.River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.
MrPickle Posted March 17, 2008 Author Posted March 17, 2008 I know it works on my laptop because it was working fine but it's randomly started playing up when I haven't installed any new plug-ins and what not. Sorry, should of mentioned that in the first post! Quote
david.atwell Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 No, I mean like: what is your RAM, what Operating System are you running, what is your processor speed... that sort of thing. MrPickle Posted March 17, 2008 Author Posted March 17, 2008 OS: Vista RAM: 1GB (Well 1022MB, 2 Megs under :3) Processor: Intel Pentium Dual CPU T2410 @ 1.46GHz 1.47GHz I have tried re-installing, but it didn't work, I am going to try un-installing then installing. Quote
pyrochild Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 What other programs are you running at the same time? Do you have Aero enabled (Aero is the transparent glass Vista-effect)? 'Cause 1GB is not a lot of RAM for a Vista machine... Quote ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it!
MrPickle Posted March 17, 2008 Author Posted March 17, 2008 I normally just have Firefox and MSN running. Quote
pyrochild Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Firefox is a known RAM hog. When things start slowing down, the first thing to do is restart Firefox. If that doesn't help, restart your whole computer. Give your PC a reboot and let us know if that helps any. MrPickle Posted March 17, 2008 Author Posted March 17, 2008 Ugh, Well I don't think it's just Paint.NET because MSN and FF have started doing it now :'( Quote
david.atwell Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Run your antivirus program and make sure you haven't contracted any malware. MrPickle Posted March 17, 2008 Author Posted March 17, 2008 I'll see what that comes up with, thanks Quote
jchunn Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Your problems are sounding a lot like bad ram. I lived with IE locking up for months before I finally did a ram check and discovered a bad chip. It would be worthwhile to take your pc by BestBuy (or some better place) and having the tech check the ram. I have had very similar problems in the past and a new ram chip fixed it right up. Good luck. Quote Total hack.
MrPickle Posted March 17, 2008 Author Posted March 17, 2008 I found the problem :3 There was a program using up 98% of my CPU Quote
