Paint.NET v2.6 Final Release now available

Recommended Posts

It's done! Thanks to everyone who's given feedback and submitted bug reports; they really have helped increase the quality of Paint.NET.

There are two ways to get it:

1. Via the built-in auto-updater. Go to File -> Updates -> Check Now.

2. Download it from our website: http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net . Links for the installer (with and w/o .NET) are on the front page, and the source code is on the Download page.

This is a great upgrade to v2.5, and is highly recommended:

* Full 64-bit support, for both x64 and Itanium systems

* New "Curves" adjustment for editing an image's color curves

* Seven new layer blend modes: Color Burn, Color Dodge, Reflect, Glow, Overlay, Negation, and Xor

* Aesthetic improvements to the entire user interface

* Better performance, especially for 64-bit systems

* Zooming, esp. with the mouse wheel, has been enhanced

* Rewritten layer composition engine is now mathematically correct, and faster

* Deployment via AD/GPO is now much easier (use /createMsi with setup package)

* User interface now works correctly in high-DPI (120dpi, 144dpi, 196dpi)

* Layers window list is no longer "upside down"

* Upgraded to use .NET Framework 2.0

* Many other improvements and fixes

This release does NOT expire. The expiration, or "time bomb", is only for our alpha, beta, and release candidate builds.

Rawx! Now I can put a new version on my laptop...

I put one of the dev releases on there, and, since it's not hooked up to the internet, I don't get to update on a regular basis. My build expired some time ago.

Thanks to all the peoples!
