The_Lionhearted
This effect seems to have been popping up a lot recently...the colored liquid swirly thing especially like the images that Helio seems so apt at... That = really pretty. and a little bit in Illnab's new sig: I know there are more examples, I just can't seem to find them at the moment. :? Anyway, if either of you two feel like sharing your secrets, let me know! Quote My Gallery
jake2k
kinda looks like they were messing around with the "dents" plugin. Quote ^Click to visit my Flickr Gallery^
The_Lionhearted
That was my thought, but I haven't been able to replicate it so far. :? Quote My Gallery
Rainshadow
Neither have I, but I found something close to it. 1. fill canvas with black 2. draw random shapes 3. apply dents 4. w/hexagonal grid thingy set to brush size four, on an new layer, make a yellow grid and gaussian blur 5. add new layer, apply grid hexagonal thing with brush size four and green color, and gaussian blur 6. set blending mode to overlay (I think) 7. merge layers 8. add new layer 9. with brush size one, make a black hexagonal grid Quote Do not click! The_Lionhearted
Perhaps I will when I get back from Topeka this weekend... But if Helio wants to beat me to it, I won't begrudge him! Quote My Gallery
Helio
Well, I'm not sure it deserves a tutorial, I just threw that together in about two minutes to show what you could use the Hex grid for. Anyway, your right, I used the Dents plugin on some green and black clouds. As for the grid, the eaten away effect was simpley adding some clouds set to additive over a grid. The_Lionhearted
Yep, large green/black clouds with dents set at 100, 100, 5. I also duplicated that layer and applied relief to it. Then I did a green grid layer with some glow, set it to overlay(opacity 120), and added another green/black cloud layer in between, set that to overlay(opacity 182)...and all was well. Helio
1. Hexagon Grid 2. Effect>Clouds (It comes with PDN.) 3. Adjustments>Curves Quote v An excellent open–source strategy game—highly recommended.  "I wish I had never been born," she said. "What are we born for?" "For infinite happiness," said the Spirit. The_Lionhearted
Looks good FrEak...one more question for Helio/FrEaK...I'm still having trouble getting the hex grid to have that kind of effect where it looks like it's dirty or rusty...looks like a clouds layer on top of a hex layer...so: A) How do you make it look like that? Helio, how did you accomplish that amazing glow on your grid? Sorry if I'm being too thorough. I'm really more interested in concepts than replicating images right now. God is in the details, so they say. Quote My Gallery
