Gulfcoast
Newbie looking for tutorial to reduce opacity of selection area. I'm looking to create something similar to the white area behind the text in the attached image. Thank you.
pdnnoob
Add a new layer, draw whatever, and decrease the opacity of the layer (open the layer properties window by double-clicking on it in the layer window) Quote No, Paint.NET is not spyware...but, installing it is an IQ test. ~BoltBait Blend modes are like the filling in your sandwich. Gulfcoast
Sorry for all the bother. After drawing a rectangle on the new layer with the selection tool and bringing up the layer property dialog box and adjusting the opacity slider bar it doesn't change anything at all. I just don't see where my problem is.
Daniels
You have to use the rectangle tool ( ), not the rectangle selection tool ( :Replace: ). Edited July 25, 2013 by Daniels Quote Logo/Banner Competition My Gallery

avada
But what if I have full layer, and I only want to make transparent a selected area of it?
