Anyone knows how to install Paint in Linux Ubuntu 9.10?

Recommended Posts

Hi. I am looking for help because I am using Linux Ubuntu 9.10 and I don't know how to install Paint.net in this system. I have to use The Gimp but it really gets on my nerves and Paint.NET in Windows suits my needs much better.

I know that the program to install is not Paint.net but a version for Linux called Paint.Mono (http://code.google.com/p/paint-mono/) but I am asking here because this forum looks big and maybe someone knows.

I know also that there are auto-installable packages for Ubuntu, but only for previous versions and not for mine (9.10 Karmic Koala) (as explained here http://www.webupd8.org/2009/09/paintnet ... tmono.html)

If anyone knew by any chance please let me know.

Thank you very much in advance.

My advice: If you want to run a Windows program, you should have bought a computer with Windows on it.

My advice: Don't miss the opportunity to be quiet the next time that you don't know what you are talking about, so that people won't know you are silly.

Of course I have Windows. And of course Paint runs in Linux. Now, if you don't know how to help or don't want to help and know nothing about computers please shut up and go making fun of yourself, as you have enough of reasons for it.

My advice: You chose an alternative OS - if you don't know how to wrangle with it, perhaps you should rethink your strategy. I'm an Ubuntu user myself, but when I need Paint.NET I boot into Windows, since I'd rather use the real thing instead of a dodgy, poorly-supported port.

We don't support Paint.mono here - and you actually seem to understand that from your original post. Why then would you ask support from the official forum for an unofficial fork based on program code from over a year ago?

Either way, I would suggest asking in a support forum that caters to Linux/Mono support. Since the underlying question here is already discussed in our FAQs, there is little need for this thread. If BB feels the need to respond, I'm sure his Admin privileges can help with that. ;)

My advice: Don't insult the second most knowledgeable person about Paint.NET on this forum if you're asking for help.

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.
