firsttimer
Re previous post, I found the way to change preferences, it now goes to internet explorer - open or save--- save gives low on memory and its in the computer anyway -- open seems to loop. If I knew what should happen I might be able to sort it. I don`t think I need to reinstall. How many folders are relevent in the prefetch folder? How many different files are there to be downloaded And just a thought- is there anywhere where modules can be downloaded one by one complete with tutorial and get to know the system worksheet? Rick Brewster
None of this has any relevance at all to Paint.NET. Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
firsttimer
So if it`s not this website that has the answers to trying to get paint.net to work - where am I going wrong. Why do you have a forum that includes trouble shooting installation problems on this website.?????
Myrddin
From what I've gathered from this and your last topic, you're having problems downloading and installing. Yes? You should not need to go through any sort of passport logins or preferences to do this. I'm going to give you a list of steps to downloading and installing Paint.NET and its necessary parts. I'm not patronising you The .NET Framework [*:3l9xq6pf] To find out which Framework you have installed already, go to:(Win. XP) Start > Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs > Microsoft .NET Framework(Win. Vista) Start > Control Panel > Programs: Uninstall a program > Microsoft .NET FrameworkAs a minimum, you should have .NET Framework 2.0, but having 3.5 SP1 will included every version.[*:3l9xq6pf] If you do not have the minimum, on the Internet, go to: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en[*:3l9xq6pf] download and install this as you would any other program;[*:3l9xq6pf] if you want 3.5 SP1 (and you will eventually, so it would be best to get it now), go here:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en[*:3l9xq6pf] it may ask you to restart your computer and this is perfectly normal. It is also normal for it to take a while to install, so be prepared for a wait. Paint.NET [*:3l9xq6pf]In your web browser, go to:http://www.getpaint.net/download.html;[*:3l9xq6pf] on this page you will see an image that reads 'Download now dotPDN LLC': click this image;[*:3l9xq6pf] on the right-hand side, click the text 'Paint.NET v3.36';[*:3l9xq6pf] you will need to save this file somewhere easily accessible on your hard drive;[*:3l9xq6pf] after the download is complete, find the file you have just saved and right-click > Extract All... to unzip the ZIP file;[*:3l9xq6pf] you can now install Paint.NET by double-clicking that new unzipped file;[*:3l9xq6pf] follow the steps as it instructs you to. If you land in any trouble at any of the steps above, just quote the step number and we will try to help. You can also search for the answer to see if it has been asked before (as it no doubt will have): search.php or http://searchpaint.net/ Quote How to Save Your Images under Different File Types My dA Gallery

firsttimer
Well-- its installed, I`ve been trying it out thank you for your help. I must be jinxed or something for I always do things back to front. One problem with copying to disc for backup with the password so it didn`t get copied. Heres hoping I can access this forum next time the thing crashes out.
Myrddin
Good to hear you've got there! One problem with copying to disc for backup with the password so it didn`t get copied.I'm not quite sure where you are encountering this password requirement, but I'm going to warn you that it shouldn't have anything to do with the Paint.NET/.NET Framework programs.
