Gradient in this context

Hello @moon1, welcome to the forum :)

  1. Open the image
  2. Add a new layer with Ctrl + Shift + N or Layers > Add New Layer
  3. Activate the Gradient tool :GradientTool:. The default mode should be Linear (in the toolbar look for (or click on) the icon :LinearClampedGradient: )
  4. Click hold and drag a gradient out to following the direction of the arrows.
  5. As you can see, the gradient has defaulted to black and white. Whichever colors are currently set as the Primary and Secondary will be used.
  6. Activate the original layer by clicking on it in the Layers window.
  7. Switch to the Magic Wand tool :MagicWandTool: and click on the white area to select all of it.
  8. Invert the selection with Ctrl + I
  9. Activate the gradient layer again. Press delete to remove those parts of the gradient not covering the white region.
  10. Flatten and save your image.
