  1. There are Kindle apps you can install on your PC, and there's also "Kindle Cloud Reader" that lets you read it online without installing anything.

Edit: Oh, and apps for iOS and Android, if you have a phone or tablet running those.

    Hi Pyro

I'm an old school person and I like the feel of paper pages in my hands and loves to read outside

with birds singing, or in bed next to my wife "singing" ;-)

I don't read allot on the computer since it makes my eyes wet after a while, (also why I work less on it and things take longer)

and those small IOS/Android phones, I don't have them since i can't read anything of them text too small.

I would try to install firefox and see if i can get this cloud thingy to work or look for a free/simple kindle reader. (any links to share?)

If I'll buy it , is there a way to print a kindle book, so i can read offline, even in B/W or Gray ?

    -----

anyway After reading "again" the Introduction to the book , I feel humbled by being in a forum with so many celebs :-)

great work Scott Stringer and great to be here with all of you :-)

  2. Hi EGO

    WOW...!

I have looked in the book in Amazon, It looks as something I must have :-)

but sadly I don't have nor would have "Kindle" :-(

so I wont have the option to enjoy your book .

Is there any chance you would have a paper version of it?

keep up the amazing things you do !

    Avi

    p.s.

Silly me i had in mine that your name really was "

Ego Eram Reputo" and that your picture is in your signature.

    how wrong was I :-)

  3. An example could be an image where you just cut out an object and put it on a transparent background, but you missed erasing a few pixels that are just floating in the middle of nowhere, especially if they are close to transparent. A plugin that will delete stray objects like that would be fairly useful, then, because it can detect such objects better than you can.

As of now, the workaround is to set the magic wand tolerance to 0 and click in the transparent area so the spots are outlined for you to see

    Hi pdnnoob

well I'm jumping to the water and trying to create a plugin for this.

    I'll keep you updated.

    Avi

  4. Avi, I use the mouse wheel a lot with the CTRL key to zoom in & out.

Using the wheel for the layers could lead to problems with things going on the wrong layers. Got a bit of problem with that now

    Hi

I use the wheel as you say too, and also as Rick said for the History.

and Ego has more idea's like I'm sure others too.

If i continue with Rick's post about the "history window" wheel usage, why not as step 1 add such scroll option to

    the "layers window" too?

so if we move the mouse over to the layers window we could scroll thru the layers like in the history window.

working with many layers this could make layer selection much faster.

    Rick ?

    thank you

    Avi

    --

    Sily me I forgot step 2 :-(

step 2 in the future would be allow thru the preference to choose what

would the wheel do when use over the canvas.

(options to select from good ideas that would pass with Rick and he would like to do it :-) )

  5. If I understood right, Avim is proposing something different: A plugin that would erase stray pixels but have no effect on areas with a large number of contiguous/touching pixels.

Perhaps with a slider that would allow the user to set areas with a minimum number of touching pixels to be ignored.

    YES :-)

erase stray pixels , surrounded by transparency.

    Avi

(but I guess it could be done even for surrounded by the background/foreground color in the color wheel, or any color

when i think about it more, am I right??)

  6. Hi All

I have pictures that have different objects over a canvas like/un uniform back ground.

I need to remove that background without any part of the objects them self.

I mange to get most of the background out using the magic wand , but i'm left

with many random single/groups of noise pixels left in the picture since

they were not captured with the magic wand.

most of the time i can remove those using the eraser or use the selection tools

with different shapes around the pixels and press delete.

but those methods take lots of time, specially around a complex objects

and as i'm getting near to them, i need to make my selections/eraser radius smaller and smaller.

I have tried to use a plugin called "Reduce Noise" that i found , but it does not work.

can some one tell me a faster way how to remove this noise pixels without any part of the objects?

or can some one point me to a plugin that does this?

a plugin that "scans" the image/selected area and remove all pixels that are surrounded by transparency in it?

This would save me lots of work, and hours of seating removing pixels :-(

    thank you

    Avi

    p.s

I can't always select only the object/s itself/them self and just move it/them to a new picture :-)

    p.s.2

maybe a plugin that the user can choose up to what size, a group of pixels, should be removed ?

(i.e. giving the ability to save small image parts if needed)

  7. hello jamiepattison, welcome to the forum.

You don't have to copy your picture to a new image.

Just add a new layer and make your background on that layer.

then move it below the picture you already made and blend them together

    as you like.

also it is recommended that you create the logo in the LARGE size and only then down size it.

this would keep the logo sharp and with more details then if you 1st reduce it size.

last thing before you create the background layer , you should enlarge the PDN canvas to the "right side"

by the amount needed to move your image to the right as you wanted.

for example enlarge the canvas to the right and make it 8496x 3163, this would enable you to move

ALL width of the image (4248)

to change the canvas size use Ctrl+Shift+R

then select "By absolute size "

    uncheck aspect ratio if needed.

    enter width 8496

select Anchor Left (since your want to enlarge to the right side)

    and press OK.

you can find many tutorials that would help you learn and use paint.net

and its features/effects , under the Tutorials section of the forum ( the link Below)

  8. Certainly good suggestions but I'm extremely busy with school now.

Hi Pyro and thank you for the answer.

Now be at school its the number one priority !!!

get back to this when you have the time.

I'm not in a hurry in my age so I can wait, but your school can't :-)

    thank you very much

    Avi

    p.s.

Don't take too much time, since i might find more things to post ;-)

    p.s.2

based on your plugin history/programming skills , i guess you are one of the top in your class !

  9. Hi Pyro

You haven't comment at all on my lst post, I hope you would say what you think good/bad idea's :-)

since I keep forgetting to press OK before the need to change the grid. I guess I would

learn it some time, but till then i'll be happy if you can help atleast with a popup saying are you sure

    before change the grid :-).

Also I was wondering with another thing .

would it be possible to add the option to select a number of "grid dots" and move then together ?

the reason for this is saving the need to make the "same change" in a number of places.

doing it one by one never gets the same results .

    for example

    1. i have a diagonal line and i want to make some teeth to it like a saw, doing it one by one

takes longer , and each tooth is not the same as the other.

    2. I'm making some picture for animation (face image), and i need to make two areas in the image

around the eyes to look like a star is opening, (like morphing) but the changes need to be identical.

if i was able to select the two DOTS (say one above/around each eye) i would be able to move both

then same amount giving me the results i need.

doing them one by one around the eyes , would give me two different effects to around each eye.

    3. working in high grid , and selecting a number of dots that aligned with a curve in the image

(like an eyebrow) would enable me to create the effect and keep the curved line in the image.

I hope I wasn't out of line asking for this too ;-)

please let me know what you think of it.

and if you ever plan to make such additions ?

    thank you

    Avi

    p.s.

I'll be happy to hear others too :-)

    p.s.2

You got me hooked on this plugin ;-)

  10. Hi Renee

Well you got my attention with the Cake :-)

I'm not as young as the kids here i'm more closer to your age then

    they are.(no offense anyone)

I just wanted to say that since computers came out, I saw them as

something strange that i had no control on, i was staying away from

them saying that it is too hard to work with them.

BUT a nice teacher sat down with me once and told me that if I try

and learn and stick with it no matter what .

I would be able to do great things with computers.

I had many failures and days I just "broke" my computer

to small parts, saying " I GIVE UP".

But I stayed and learned from others and from my mistakes.

over the time it became more clear and more flowing.

I even became a programmer and then moved to graphics more of image

manipulation (my hand drawings still sucks).

graphics programs always hard when you start, so many options and so many

    ways to get something done.

Even now after years of working with graphics , at my age and my memory problems, I get lost sometimes

and can't move forward on a project. (something that didn't happen before.)

BUT I never give up, I try again and again, writing down what I did so i wont forget

and at the end when I see the results , I'm very happy.

The people here are great and helpful!

they would help you and wont give up on you.

trust them and mostly trust your self.

few tips from me and what I do to get the job done and learning a new software.

    1. Put your current project aside for a little while.

    2. open Paint.Net and just play with it, draw some lines , text, circles etc...

    3. play with the buttons/menus and see for your self what each of them is doing.

    4. take a note book and make notes of what you learned.

    5. try the selections and copy/paste

    6. try to move selection and use the effects .

    7. ask here in the forum for help or questions.

doing the steps above would give you a better feeling about the software and its uses

and would enable you to figure out how to do the things you are after in your project.

(Its also called learning via "Trail and Error".)

    or learning to drive.

I'll continue with you cake example, I can tell you that I can bake great cakes now.

but its only because I have made many many many really bad cakes trying

to figure out how to make them .

    Don't give up :-)

    Avi

    p.s.

This works for every kind of software.

  11. Hi

Since you plan to scan many pictures, I think you should invest in a new scanner

with a "scan button" that has the ability to scan directly into a folder on your hard drive.

    i.e.

its a scanner connected via network and saves the scanned image file into a shared

    directory on your network.

I have an HP scanner 8500 pro plus and i use it for such cases all the time

this way i can get to the images from any computer on my network

    using any software i want.

also its stores safely in a shared directory on my NAS file server.

(so no need for a computer software, or a powered on computer at all)

I know brother and other brands have such options too.

    Avi

    p.s.

my scanner also have a feeder so i can scan many pages into a directory with

one press on my "scan button" ;-)

  12. Hi

Well it can be done in Paint.Net, I have done something like this long time ago,

but sadly i don't have/remember where i have placed the PDN.

However i can give you the general idea of what i did and you can pick it up from there.

    1. create a number of pictures with the text you want in different font sizes. i have make the all white on black.

(but you can do with colors too and also transparent background)

    2. load your B/W image to PDN.

    3. create Empty layer and then load the 1st text picture (smallest size)

    4. select ALL the text picture and copy to clip board.

    5. go back to the PDN with the Empty layer and use the effect "Fill from clipboard" to fill the layer.

    6. create and new empty layer and fill it with the next text size.

    7. repeat step 6 untill you can layers with all the text sizes.

    8. go back to the original image (background) duplicate it few times.

    9. choose one of those layers and with the selection tools make a "mask layer" filled with black

around the image to create the text init.

    10. create an invert mask layer too.

    11. now is a good time to save the pdn file ;-)

    12. after you have the invert mask select it , then go down/up the layers and delete the image outside the mask

using "Delete key" (excluding the original background and normal mask)

    13. now you are left a number of layers with different text sizes , in and inside the shape of your original picture.

now its starts to get complicated (and easy once you get it.)

    14. hide all layers

    15. unhide the layer with the smallest text. and one of the copied picture to fill layers.

16 use bland layers using xor/ other / or select the areas you want the small test to be

then just invert erase the unneeded parts from both layers and merge the layers

    17. hide the resulted layer

    18. do the same with the other layers.

those steps take time , and you better make a copy of the text layers so you can reuse them.

    19. after you finish you can unhide al the resulted layers and trim them to make then

as you want. ie. colors text not over the other etc..

    20. combine the layers to one layer.

I hope you understood / able to pickup the idea.

my english is not well and memory also ;-)

so I might of been missing something, but the general idea is there.

you can combine the layers with colors/transparency and other effect too..

let me/us know how it came out.

  13. Hi

If you want it in word then do the following

    1. import the picture to word.

    2. select the picture and use the "warp text" option to "Behind Text"

this would allow you to write your text over the picture (and inside your frame)

(also you can use the option to "send Backwards" it would be moved behind text and other pictures)

    3. when i imported the picture to my word is was transparent but if you want

to make it transparent, select the picture , from the "picture tools menu" select "Transparent color"

you would get a "pick color cursor" select the white background and it would be transparent.

the solution is not in Paint.Net but in Word....

    Avi

    p.s.

    I use word 2010

  14. Hi Pyro

I have been playing around with it for some time now, (WOW) .

but i have to ask for some small things for you to add which are missing (from my point of view).

I don't know how to explain it, so I'll just try :-) hopefully you would pick

    what i mean.

I have made a grid of 10x10, and made my warps where and how i wanted them.

now I wanted to make more small changes/adjusments but in a higher grid of 20x20.

In order to do it i must 1st apply the effect to my picture then go back to the effect

    with the 20x20 grid.

if i don't apply then changing the grid would erase all the work i did in 10x10 :-(

what is missing from my point of view is.

    1. a question box asking are you sure ? before one change the grid and lose its long work.

(what happened to me :-( i pressed the increase grid size button )

    2. the option to undo (at least the last change)

    3. the ability to apply the current warp effect ONLY to the picture/image in the effect box, enabling the user to continue

warping with a new/same grid over the last warp effect.

THEN when the user is done with all his warping apply the effect to the original image in the PDN.

I hope that you understood me , my English is not the best and so is my age :-)

    thank you

    Avi

    p.s.

The number 3 request is because when I work I have a vision and continuous work in my age keeps me from forgetting

what i want and keeps my line of work flowing the right way.

applying the effect in one grid and getting back to the effect with a new grid makes me forget what i wanted to do .

but i think that in the global people would be happy to be able to warp with as many grids they want

until they are happy with the results and only then apply it to the picture.

thank you and continue to do great plugins that makes us happy :-)

    Avi
