  3. Flip...what 3d effects in movies do you think were better than Avatar?
  4. Worth going to see...I just couldn't justify paying extra to see it in 3D. By the way several movie goers leaving the theater were commenting about the same thing so it wasn't just me. Of course after Avatar maybe we are spoiled.
  5. Happiness is waking up to sun streaming through the window. Waking up to the smell of scrumptious breakfast cooking in the kitchen. Being served coffee in bed and savoring French Toast that someone else cooked for you. Oh yes, and not having to go to work.
  6. Alice In Wonderland just came out in 3D. To be honest I was disappointed with the effects but then perhaps it is because I'm still remembering the great effects in Avatar. I expected to feel like I was really grabbing for something while Alice was falling down the hole. At the end the butterfly was a nice touch and I almost felt like it was in the theater with me but overall the effects were disappointing. To be honest to compare Alice to Avatar is like comparing oranges to apples but I still feel like I was ripped off by paying extra to see it in 3D. Just my two cents worth. Now I'm off to see if the 3D glasses will make my images in Paint.Net look any better.
  7. You know you are addicted to Paint.Net when you have stood in line for an hour or longer to watch the release of a new movie and in the midst of it you take out your laptop because you got an idea while watching and you don't even mind that you get kicked out of the theater because the light from your screen is disturbing other movie goers.
  8. Good thing I'm addicted to this forum as I learn new things every day. I spend a couple of hours surfing through some of the personas out there and some are really well made. I played around with trying to make my own but kept coming up against the 300kb limit. Also the program is screwy as I have to pick a pre-made persona and then go back and set mine. It will not let me change them one after another. I've always customized when I've found a way to do it. It really freaks out the tech people if I have to have my computers worked on. I have to admit it would be nice to be able to be able to make my own themes for Firefox.
  9. You know you are addicted to Paint.Net when you spend $20 worth of ink printing out images as you can't decide which one you created to use on a greeting card that you could pick up at a store for under $5.
  10. Hi my name is Myoriah. I'm addicted to Paint.Net and lately this forum. I must confess I was overjoyed when my boss called today and said that I didn't need to come into work. She had more people scheduled than she had jobs for. I meant to go get my hair colored today after my boss called but I got sidetracked with this idea I had for a new sig as well as ideas for graphics to use for the St. Patrick day cards I'm making for friends and family. I'm afraid if I leave for a minute the muse will leave me. My dogs look at me with soulful questioning eyes as if to say "Why don't we go on walks anymore Mom?" I noticed the other day when I walked into the kitchen for a cup of coffee to keep me going that they now waddle instead of walk and JR now dusts the floor with his belly. One less household chore for me to do now. Talking about household chores the furniture now looks like someone used a blur effect on it. The original surface no longer recognizable. My bedroom looks like someone went and made a collage by randomly throwing around images on a canvas. Sorry have to go the muse is calling and I need to get back to my open program of Paint.Net and follow up. But I'll be back soon to check out the new posts
  11. Where are the nearest PDN Annonymous meetings held? Just in case there isn't one yet I'll start one right here. Hi my name is Myoriah. I'm addicted to Paint.Net and lately this forum. 12. I'm not sure how to go about it but I think the soldier on the first one needs to be popped out a little bit. He is hard to see at least for me and I think if popped out he would appear more lonely. The second one I think needs something. Sorry but it appears too blah and ordinary. Doesn't invoke any emotion or nothing. Perhaps add some blurred wisps or more of an impression of fog without totally losing the soldier. Maybe just a touch of color somewhere. Thanks for sharing. I hope someone who knows more how to do things with this program than I do will have some good ideas of how you can improve them. I think you have a good start and see lots of potential with your images.
  13. I noticed as I walked to my car after a long and stressful day that the moon looked like a pregnant lady who was about to give birth. "Oh no! This is going to be a strange night" I thought. I opened the front door and instead of being greeted by the ecstatic sound of dogs barking I only heard whimpering. Radiating from my computer was an eerie light and eerie sounds. I cautiously crept closer and noticed that the words download Paint.Net was flashing. I tried to shut down windows and the computer would not shut down. I ran my virus scanner but no virus found. I even tried to reformat the hard drive even though I knew it would take me months to reconstruct the hard drive. Nothing worked so I downloaded Paint.Net and the rest is history. Seriously though I first checked out the original Ms Paint and found it very limiting but then those were the early days of Windows so I didn't really expect much. [windows 3.1 had just come out] Then a friend gave me a floppy with Paint Shop and I used that for awhile. Adobe Photo Shop came with a new printer as it was time to replace the dot matrix printer with something better. Adobe Photo Shop was all right but I really wanted something better. I tried Gimp and some of the other programs out there but would get to the point where money had to be shelled out or the program was too difficult for my feeble mind to comprehend. Having to make the decision to eat or buy a graphic program I decided that eating might be the best alternative. I continued to use Adobe Photo Shop and some online programs until one day I had to buy a new computer. The new computer would not install Photo Shop as it was a 16 bit program. Put free graphic programs in search and found Paint.Net which I immediately downloaded. I was trying to do something and help sent me to the forum. Boy was I ever excited when I found out all I could do with this program. I was very pleased when I upgraded to win 7 that Paint.Net continued to work flawlessly. Recently bought a new printer and Photo Shop came with that but after playing with the program for a few minutes I came back to Paint.Net. Only negative thing about Paint.Net and this forum is that it is addictive. But at least I am not gaining weight as I don't eat decadent chocolates or other food while playing around with the computer. Thanks everyone who shares their knowledge, puts together plug-ins,and offers it free. Thanks for the help also that everyone who comes here so willingly gives.
  14. fleeting glimpse you missed the black cat with the telporting unit on the back quarters. That is the first thing I noticed. My impression at first glance was that it was spirits perhaps of the departed watching over us. I also saw what appeared to be an alien watching us. Perhaps studying us. Interesting piece and choice of colors. Second look at your work and instead of spirits watching over us I'm thinking about a native american type poem that I wrote about spirit rising. It is about how at the time of earthly death the spirit rises to another plane, another place. So I thought perhaps the spirits were rising not singular but in a group somewhere.
  15. This is the first picture I came up with to use on the front of a card. Although I liked it it seemed to be a little blah so after playing around with different things I came up with this one. I like it a lot better. I thought I had lost this vintage image but it resurfaced so using the vintage image and a stock image of shamrocks I put together this. I plan to use some curling ribbon on the card to echo the ribbon in the vintage image. Another vintage image with the same shamrock image. I found a shamrock necklace strung on string and I'm going to use part of the necklace on this card.
