  1. I'm certainly no pro in Paint.NET, so I'm sure others can do a much better job. But I liked the idea of a wine glass so I started playing around with it. I used the black background on a separate layer so I could see the details of the glass and the wine on separate layers. It's just several ellipses, and erase where they overlap, with some gradients on the glass and on the surface of the wine. I'll play around more with it when I have time but this looks like fun. This took me about 10 minutes to make. Align Object is your friend when placing the ellipses...
  2. you can do it that way, but an easier way is to click the "Layers" tab at the top of the screen and select "Import from file". That way all the pictures you open will be opened on a new layer in your current project instead of as separate projects.
  3. for nice puffy clouds, you can (on a new layer) use the paintbrush with a big size draw something like a big cloud shape. Then Gaussian blue (or True Blur) so it looks rather faint. Then magic wand select them and render clouds and play with the settings
  4. As for the text, it may be a type of text without an actual drop shadow. I have a couple similar fonts like that with a shadow built in. Similar in style to this one: http://www.dafont.com/monster-shadow.font
  5. not sure I understand what you mean. can you post a screenshot here of the picture with Paint.NET open on the desktop so we can analyze?
  6. Would this be used at a Russian website? Because then I assume you'd have to write up a translation of what the effect does po-russkiy. Why couldn't you just write up a description of the effect in Russian, and then link to the appropriate section here?
  7. This topic from search may help, it explains the "recolor tool" http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/en/RecolorTool.html It only takes a moment: type in your secondary hex color to the FFB300 you wanted, choose the recolor tool, and Ctrl-left-click the orange color you want to change, change the size of your brush and then left-click and draw over it like a normal paintbrush. In the photo below, I did only the left half so you could see:
  8. Thanks David. I've updated the tutorial portion accordingly to reflect the change.
  9. That's really funky...I know I selected size 4 when I did the weave effects. But now it dawned on me that I was using the old version of the "Ed Harvey Effects". Now that I've updated to the new version of Ed's effects, I can only select a minimum of 10 as well. You can combat this by creating a very large image and doing the tut, then resizing at the end I presume.
  10. I was following the tutorial verbatim for a while, then before the twist layer, I chose a different path and ended up with something I call: Tongue Soup
  11. hehe, so you splattered paint all over it? looks cool, nice and random
  12. is that supposed to be snow and mountains? with a palm tree?
  13. Visit this tutorial...without the sepia undertones it should give you the look you're looking for http://paintdotnet.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3831
  14. Thanks, I hadn't even tried to click a different tool, I just tried to deselect it. But I had figured out the new source point which was handy to a photo I was editing.
  15. Thanks Wither, I had always had problems with that too, as it seemed like nothing worked right when I tried to use it. What is the secret about deselecting it? Ctrl-D doesn't work, nor does Esc I could only save and close and re-open
  16. Try reading this: http://boltbait.googlepages.com/install
  17. if you insist hehe definitely not tut worthy You'll need the Weave plugin in the Ed Harvey Pack found Here Create a new image Set your primary color to dark gray (I used Hex: 404040) Set secondary color to black. Select a Linear (Reflected) gradient Position your pointer in the center of your image and while holding 'shift' perform your gradient all the way to the top of the image (or beyond if you want the gray to extend further) Press Ctrl-D to deselect Then duplicate the layer :DuplicateLayer: On the top layer, do a Weave (effects > render > weave) with the following settings: Angle: 0.0 Size: 10 Edited from size of 4 originally, as the Weave plugin from Ed Harvey Effects dated 20071221 allows only a minimum weave of 10 On the bottom layer, do another weave (effects > render > weave) with the following settings: Angle: 90.0 Size: 10 Edited from size of 4 originally, as the Weave plugin from Ed Harvey Effects dated 20071221 allows only a minimum weave of 10 On top layer, set layer blending mode to Difference (press F4 to access layer properties and set blending mode to Difference) Merge the top layer down  Then do a Glow (effects > photo > glow) :Glow: I used the following settings: Radius: 10 Brightness: 30 Contrast: 20 That's all I did to mine...if you come up with something you like better, I'd be interested in seeing it.
  18. An easy way is to use the line tool, and once you've drawn the line, drag the nubs upwards/downwards to your liking. Then use the bucket-fill for the rest of the swoosh using the same color as the line.
  19. I misunderstood what you meant earlier, as I thought you only wanted a shadow over part of the swoosh area, not the entire length, and like the others suggested, a drop shadow would be easiest to accomplish that
  20. This might help... viewtopic.php?f=15&t=20387&p=122916&hilit=ying+yang#p122899
  21. on a new layer, draw a wide black or gray line over the area where you want the shadow, then gaussian blur the new layer. Depending on the size of the line, you will want to make the guassian blur a bigger number. Just one way of adding a shadow.
  22. wouldn't the Halo and/or the Drop Shadow accomplish this as well? (after they've chosen the correct primary color of course)
  23. When I'm at work (like now) they have the PhotoBucket site blocked from the corporate intranet. So, I can't view any pictures hosted there until I get home. Which operating system are you using?
