"Datenträger" does not mean "hard drive", it can be every place to store files. Maybe an USB device? If it's the HDD, I assume the error message is wrong. Or you have a problem with your HDD.
And yes, it is a good idea to save yourself after a while when it's that important. It's not only the program which could crash but Windows etc. And perhaps your PC itself goes down.

This sounds as if we already found the problem.

Question ... how did all those dlls become misplaced to begin with ... corrupted during download?
This appears rather often - and nobody knows why!
I think the best solution would be to change Paint.NET that it blocks native dlls in the effects folder from loading.
-
BTW, what is TUB? I've never heard of that before.
-
I doubt this is possible at the moment and I don't think this will happen, even for the 4.0 release in 2009.
There were already debates about an optimized jpeg file type plugin (like the excellent opti png plugin) but nobody made one. Regarding the fact that Paint.NET provides rather less (one slider) of the rich options of the most popular picture file type, I think a lot of users and not only you would appreciate such a plugin.

File Types folder:
Save as:
Don't Know - but in this version I did what you suggested and put in a blank "Save As" function. What I meant was to implement a visible Save as entry which actually saves something (a dummy file). This might fix the bug.
Open:
.Net Framework folder:
System:
Now I wonder if it can be fixed this way.

If this is a help, the picture I worked on was 1280x800. This seems to be related to "out of range 1279x799" in the way you said.
-
I get the same error like barkbark00.
You should publish the code like pyrochild said, he is the plugin award winner for some good reasons.
And I believe the correct place for this is "Object", too.

Also, I'm a guy.
In what way does this matter?
However, as there are no other replies (ooops, David was again faster ) I would suggest the following things for Paint.NET 5.0:
-Paint.NET should be the entire OS. For example, Word docs would open in Paint.NEt, ready for editing.
- Close to the last point: Paint.NET should have the text processing abilities of Microsoft Word 2007. Same for Excel, Power Point and Access. This goal is achieved by buying Microsoft - Please donate: http://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
- Paint.NET should cook your food.
- Paint.NET should clean your clothes.
- Paint.NET should ensure that you go to heaven when dead and not to hell.
What I want to say: In the last time there are quite a lot of requests and suggestions, and most of them are either doubled or make almost no sense. Paint.NET is goooood the way it is and suggestions should only be made when they would significantly improve the program. Last point: Suggestions should be no copies of the abilities of Photoshop - if Rick wants to rebuild Photoshop, he can review the changelog of it himself.

The paint.NET user file folder seams like the natural place.
Yes, it is. BTW, I downloaded 2.3 and my file types had bugs again. And I had no AVI save option, which might be the reason.
-
Well, maybe the Lord will be angry, but at least BoltBait has his "Object" submenu.

Wow, since my last visit a lot of things happened...
For the file type export problem, I'll have a look. One suggestion: You should allow custom settings via an INI file (in the effects directory) - such a file is easier to edit and it's not dangerous - compared to an edit of the registry. There are noobs out there, you know.
-
There is no difference between hdp and wdp.
Furthermore, polls are forbitten outside the offtopic section.
Edit: David was faster...
-
The plugin infrastructure does not enable this.
And I don't see any benefit of such a function.
Wasn't this requested before?
-
Has anyone tried what I posted as second bug? This is a massive problem, I can't use the plugin if it changes the save settings to a funny farm.
To make it clear, when I select a file type (from a plugin, not the built-in ones!) I don't get the corresponding file type but the one above!
-
Bugs found:
1.) This plugin leaves an aviimporttemp.avi in the temporary files directory (%TEMP%).
2.) Obviously it screws up my file types. When I select "Optimized PNG" I get the JP2 window. To get the OptiPNG file type, I have to select PCX. This problem vanishes when I remove the AVI import plugin and comes back when I "reinstall" it.
This is maybe related to the fact that it is import only. If I'm right you can solve this problem by adding a "dummy" AVI export option, e.g. saving just an AVI with no audio and a single, not compressed frame (the picture).

Thank you very much - that was fast!
Now I get no complains.

Please, can you just attach the file type DLL without an installer?
The EXE makes my virus scanner going nuts. I don't really believe that there's spyware in it, but I'll use it only if I'm sure.
-
There is a lot of weird stuff... Why do you have a dmg file there? As far as I know, DMG is Mac OS only. And why do DLL files show the Paint.NET icon? Do you open dlls with PDN?
To make it clear: All what has to be in the effects folder are dlls and maybe ini files. And anything in the folder should be downloaded from the plugin forum (or self-compiled with codelab). All other files shouldn't be there and cause only errors.

I'll update this again to revamp the strength slider. I'm going to remove the negative range and adjust the increment so it's a little more keyboard-friendly. Also, I'm going to make the strongest setting stronger so that even the brighter areas of an image can be noise-reduced.
Which version of the effect was included? The 1.1 from the plugin forum or was it updated as written above?
-
I'm a fan of improvements.
-
As the title says it pretty much, I would appreciate to see this feature for the following tools: Rectangle, Rounded Rectangle, Ellipse and maybe Freeform Shape.
In my eyes this would be a great improvement.
-
Sounds good.
I'm playing PDN.
-
Well, congratulations.
One question left: Will we have to wait half an year or will there be an update, maybe after the next weeks? (3.21 - no new features but bug fixes.)
Basic Antialias version 1.1 - bug fixed (January 14 2008)

Yeah, now it works.
I think this is an excellent plugin, and it gives me better results than e.g. Feather (OK, that depends on the images you work on). However, it's worth a download.
