  1. I still get the same error.

Also, you don't use the appropriate namespaces for the submenus. For 3.10, there was an update which allows to use special, "self-localizing" namespaces for submenus. If you switch your PDN-language to e. g. French, you will get an "Distort" submenu (in English) containing your distortion effects.

I think the problem is that the appropriate strings are not listed in any kind of documentation.

Note: "Color" has no special namespace as it's plugin unique and no built in submenu. "Distort" has one. I don't know if "Render" has one, but I believe "yes" since 3.20.

  2. Kokane, if you actually live in Germany you should additional consider the German Law:

1.) You have to publish an editorial which contains personal data, for example your address. Edit: I forgot: §§ 1 Abs. 4 TMG, 55 Abs. 1 RStV

2.) You are responsible for any comment that is posted on your forum (!!!). The Amtsgericht Hamburg* (I blelieve it was the AG Hamburg) sentenced a news reporter because he deleted a "critical" comment after 8 hours. I doubt you are suitable to do the job. Remember that e. g. the picture of a swastika could be taken to court.

Both points will only be a problem for you if it is your forum. However, the Paint.NET logo and any picture posted in the pictorium or elsewhere may be not allowed to be used without the author's permission.

The legal situation might be more complex than descripted; anyway, the lack of special laws for the internet and of court decisions cause an insecure situation that will create more problems than benefits.

    * This is the title of a German court and can be translated as Municipal Court (County Court in UK).

  3. Well, nobody can stop you making a website about something (e. g. website about Goethe, yourself, Windows, Germany, the world...), but of course you have to obey to copyright law.

    Read this: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=3151

In German: Der jeweilige Plugin-Entwickler muss persönlich um Erlaubnis gebeten werden, dass seine Werke weiterverbreitet werden dürfen, außer wenn er ausdrücklich erklärt hat, dass dies jedem erlaubt ist.

Second, if you want to redistribute Paint.NET itself, you have to ask Rick if he allows it. Linking the download page should be OK.

Furthermore, you are not allowed to claim Paint.NET is your work or such a thing, or you are/represent the Paint.NET team. You should make clear that getpaint.net is the appropriate homepage and stress what you are planning is a fanpage.

    That's my opinion.

What you should mind is if your idea makes sense. If the community breaks into different languages, it will be bad for everybody and may have bad influences. The current forum is quite fine.

  4. I tried it and there were no issues. You have to tell us a bit more...

1.) What is your Operating System (XP / Vista)?

2.) Do you have any pre-release Service Packs installed?

and make sure you use Paint.NET 3.22.

In my opinion, it is possible that either your Paint.NET or your .Net-Framework was corrupted due to the installation of a different software (2 weeks ago). A basic workaround would be first to try to repair Paint.NET via the MSI package in the Paint.NET/staging directory (right click -> repair) and - if this doesn't work - try to repair the .Net-Framework (Control Panel/Software).

You should wait for other posts and answer my questions before you try my workaround. Otherwise you have to face the danger to do much useless work which has rather negative effects than positive ones.

Good luck and kind regards... :)

  5. Nobody's forcing you to use the text box.

Sorry, but I have issues with it. It forces.

With white as primary color, I use the plugin. Then, I change my primary color to red (for example) and access the plugin again - it renders a white outline and I have to type

     primary

    to change it to red.

    Proof.png

This is especially nasty when you use the repeat effect item.

At least the word "primary" is too long when you have no IM-fingers which can type in the speed of light. "P" / "S" would be enough.

And as an optional color selector, the one of Gradient Mapping would do the job much better. And that would be much more user friendly (one of the things Paint.NET is about, I think).

  6. I really like this plug-in, but I am wondering, is it going to be any further developed? PJayTycy's last log-in was Dec. 13...

I don't know, maybe it's already finished but lacks an UI?

This plugin (ASCII Art) was not "released" in the plugin forum but is finished (?).

Maybe someone could just make a better UI and it would be done.

  7. I don't how if this is related, but since 3.20 I have sometimes similar problems, but for single images. Sometimes they open up without any problem, but in other cases PDN freezes for around 5 seconds and then displays the thumbnails in the MDI and Layers window.

At least this can't be related to CPU speed, it is also not related to other programs running or the file size - I checked it.

  8. @barkbark00: Why should the galleria be overrun by posers when it's locked? And the threads should be limited like "one user - one thread". The thing with the PDN files is no solution. As they can't be viewed within the browser, it'd be required to download them. Concerning that the community is growing, I have no imagination who would do the checking in two years.

However, it can't go on the way it is.
