Try Panelling plugin.
-
Just a click of that plugin and you can see it will fix the drak without messing up the light.
Please find time to try it, if not right now.
Darn, I sound like a salesman....
Side tip, move text....
Type on new layer, to move it. or or :LassoTool: then (Left mouse button move, Right mouse button rotates)

Sorry, I just re-read my post, and I got it backwards...
Grid top layer, Map bottom layer.
Open grid, Ctrl+A, then Ctrl+C (You can close this file if you wish)
Open the map, add new layer, Ctrl+V.
Then change the layers blending mode as stated my earlier post.
-
Download it and try it.
And you will find how easy it is to use.
You can thank me later.
And 1 more thing, please check out the forum rules, and make a clearer subject for your thread.
Click edit button to edit your subject and/or posts.
Or, another mod will lock this, if not by me.

Map top layer, grid bottom layer.
Try Layer's blending mode.
Multiply.
You don't even need to get rid of the white.
-
Shadow highlight recovery plugin.
-
Almost any gradient shape is possible, you have blurs and distorts.

Press F1 while using Paint.NET.
Read everything, and you will know all the basic of Paint.NET

I agree with D, because it has the most contrast - it's the most vivid, without being too bright (like A). Are you using Color Dodge or Burn for these? It looks like the effect of one of those layer blend modes.
Same as the answer for oma. Thanks for stopping by!
I think he's talking about the cyan in the armor. Really does look like color dodge/burn or glow/reflect.
Yeah, that was what I meant, thanks Blooper.Misunderstood.
Yes, there was Reflect, Overlay & Color Burn.
======================================================================
And thanks for the input everybody.
It will all depends on what type of background the final piece will have.
If it's in a dark place, then mainly using even B would work.
But, it's still fun to make all these testing, and see what everybody likes.
-
Better, I saw the earlier version and you used the wrong shape3d setting.
Now this is good. Did you use my eye tut? If not, why not??
-
agree went over to DA to see a bigger version. definetly more glass like and shiny.
another new method? or just another set of gradiants and more blend modes?
ciao
I put the top layer of A back on, but tone it down and got rid of some parts, to show the darker B, yet having some of the shine from A.
I was going to say 'C' ... then my daughter came along and said 'D', pointing out the bits with less glare ... although I still like 'B' a lot :?I dunno, they all look great
She is quite right, you know? That was the main point of D.
Artistic father and artistic daughter?! If she likes art and such, you better let her play with PDN! and post some of her work later on. Don't waste the talent!

Ash that is amazing. It looks like the Armour is sitting however. I'm just trying to think how your going to put it all together. Great work.Augh, he can do anything with that sitting armor.
 *3 seconds later* :AddNoise:
I am thinking you are talking to jerkfight?
========================================================
I couldn't really tell what is was for 5 seconds. It's pretty good, though. Nice job. A little blurry. How sharp do you want it to be?
========================================================
very well done. i like it better in its glass colour scheme, but the fire one looks mad too. very, very well done.Ash, I like your original color scheme more than this flame one to be honest, however, wonderful job on the armor itself.Don't worry guys, as written in my post, that was for testing, fun. the final piece will NOT be like that.
========================================================
Did you use the Negation blend mode? That or Curves?Neither, There was blending mode (additive) and Fire!

1 letter, enter, another letter enter, and so on.
And put the text on a new layer so you can easily adjust, delete, and so on.
-
Thanks guys and gals!
Very nice, good shadow work. A little blurry on the edges though, you could try selecting (0% tolerance) all around the arm, filling with black on a new layer, using outline object in black as well and using that as an alpha mask. Most likely because of the scanlines in the background making blurry edges.
The PDN file without it looks ok.
Another update with some fun testing.
No, that's not gonna be the final background.

There are plugins that can render lines and shapes. try em out.
Oh, and you better change your thread subject to a clearer one, read the forum rules if you don't know what I mean.
Or, this thread will be lock, by another mod, if not by me.

Simple thing to try 1st is, type the letters on top layer, render clouds on the bottom layer and try different blending modes on the top layer.

I have just started playing with thsi program and am a newbie in regards to any application of paint so I need a step by step manual., a "paint for dummies". Does it exist? thanks

I'm thanking you that is major. its not often my jaw drops but this one what can I say but wow!
even in the unfinished state it qualifies for galleria. and I made that pledge not to hit the exclamation mark every time I visited the galleries. wonder if BoltBait would have a fit if I nominated this in its unfinished form. no rush ASH but I really can not wait to see the entire image.
No need to thank me.
I couldn't even if I wanted to rush it, making it up as I go along, finding new techniques/methods as I work on it...

Well I definitely enjoy what you post ... even if your benchmark is so high I can't see over it
But all an incentive to try and improve.
Like those boots ... amazing work ... and an incentive to use Curves more
Correction: Curves+
Yes, it is already more than just the boots.Gosh I hope so, he would look pretty silly wearing just glass boots and his knickers !
Now there's an idea.
However, even with the whole armor, one should still have their knickers on!!

Resize canvas.
Oh, and learn to use click-able thumbnails.
Click on edit to learn how it's done.

You have to save as .PDN so you can keep working on the image with different layers.
If you saved it with any other file formats, you will have to re-do the steps from before.
