Isn't the property collection, and thus the layer control, rebuilt during OnCreatePropertyCollection() ?

Yes, but that's only called once, the first time the effect is run... since there is no token.  If the token exists, it is populated from there and there is no chance to rebuild that list of layers.

I just don't think drop-down list boxes in IndirectUI were designed for data that could change, like a list of layers or a list of fonts.  We may be pushing the limits of the original design here.

  2. I won't be adding this to Text Fun Factory.  It's a little too specialized.

However, if you have my plugin pack installed, you can easily do this using Effects > Selection > Outline Selection:

Select your text, use the plugin starting with the outmost color (orange) with a width of 20, click OK.

Run the effect again and change the color to blue with a width of 15.  Repeat with red 10 and yellow 5.

Provide real docking for color and layer pallette.

You can move those windows outside of the main Paint.NET window and they'll remember their location the next time you run PdN.

Provide full keyboard interface for color and layer pallette. (Like for tools).

What kind of key combinations are you looking for?

Some already exist, like pressing X to swap the primary and secondary color.

compared with your outline i can't get the same result when applying a gradient with the same values

i thought i could delete outline an text plus but at the end of the day no

This plugin is using a completely different method of text rendering than Creative Text Pro, so you'll probably want to keep that one around.  As for my Outline/Gradient text plugin... this one is similar, but there are some differences.  I didn't realize that I'd changed the order of rendering and I'll probably change Text Fun Factory to be more similar to that.  Bottom line, it processes a letter at a time, so there will be differences.  Look for an update to this plugin in a day or so which will make the outlines slightly thinner and the 3D effect to be more pronounced.  This should make this plugin a full replacement for Outline/Gradient text.

Luckily, you can still use all of them—you don’t have to choose.
