  1. Very nice tip @ardneh The OP might usefully recolour the grass layer first to make it less green to add to the parched effect.
  2. Probably... 1. Pressing Alt then releasing it with no intervening action focuses the menu bar. 2. Pressing Alt and a menu shortcut key (F/E/I/L/A/c) focuses the menubar and opens the corresponding menu. 3. With a selection already made and a selection tool active, then doing this (in this order): pressing and holding Alt pressing and holding down the left mouse button dragging the mouse releasing the left mouse button releasing Alt ...subtracts from the selection and does not focus the menu bar.
  3. @Pixey > Go to File>Acquire>From Scanner or Camera From the error message, n10004, @Manda69 appears to be asking about sending an image to a Brother ScanNCut machine. Not trying to acquire an image.
  4. Follow @Pixey's suggestion and then Effects | Blurs | Gaussian Blur in the new blue area to smooth out the slight horizontal streakiness that you get on the right hand side.
  5. You can't actually edit the letters of the text once it has been entered. There is a long-standing feature request to provide this capability in the future. However, as @Pixey says, if you enter your text on a separate layer then it's easy to delete old text and re-enter any that you wish to change. But you can't actually 'edit' existing text.
  6. > some files on this website or some addons cant be installed cuz it says Can't open in DOS but i forgot the full thing it said and some random words @JerryIsARetartMouse This problem report is of no use to anyone. Nobody knows where you were "on this website" or what you were trying to do. Please could you provoke the "Can't open in DOS" problem again and report the exact steps needed to reproduce it. Then someone will be able to assist you.
  7. And if you have trouble remembering F1 (although it is pretty common as the Help shortcut key in many apps), then just click on the Help ? button at the top right: Pant.NET's documentation is excellent. Superior to that of many other apps. Spend some time reading it and your effort will be amply rewarded.
  8. Depending on what the foreground & background image is, I find that https://www.remove.bg/ or https://photoscissors.com/ generally does an accurate and very fast job.
  9. What @BoltBait said, plus: This is a ridiculously small amount of free space on your Windows primary drive. You need to solve that problem. Are your C and D drives on two separate physical disks? If so, you need to buy a larger disk for your C drive. Search online for transferring Windows to a new disk. However, it is perhaps more likely that your C and D drives are 2 partitions on the same physical drive. In which case you can repartition the space allocated to C and D. There are lots of free partitioning tools available; for example: https://www.resize-c.com/ https://www.paragon-software.com/free/pm-express/#features There are lots of others you could look at.
  10. That is essentially what @CometChaser has done. If you look carefully, you can see the base map through the upper map. The maps look as though they are drawn with different projections, so they will not line up unless you distort them. You could use the Grid Warp plugin to do this:
  11. Possibly, yes - but there's no ETA. See this post (Magnetic Lasso and Polygonal lasso / selection tool)
  12. @Fox_Miner Please could you write your posts in normal sized, non-bold text? Your bold posts are close to SHOUTING! and discourage people from helping. Also, please note this (again): https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/120054-lasso-select-tool-is-missing-icon-on/#comment-596147 Your 2048 x 512 pixels is a lot bigger than the max of 500 x 150 in Rule 15. And could you take a look at Rule 13 please. And maybe re-read Rule 1 (as already implied by @Rle) Thanks
  13. Go here and check that your shift key is working: https://unixpapa.com/js/testkey.html
  14. Depending on the image, I often do the foreground extraction using AI driven https://photoscissors.com rather than the Paint.NET tools. Your photo took just a few seconds. It needs a bit of cleaning up around the right hand dog's legs but that could have been done with the Erase Markings tool - or afterwards using Paint.NET. Explore the Photo Scissors tools at the top left and three adjustment tabs on the right. I normally paste the resultant image as a new layer above the original image in Paint.NET and make any final adjustments there; for example by cloning from the original image if necessary.
  15. The proposed behaviour would be very irritating to me, and I suspect many other users of Paint.NET. @dmt05 Why do you forget that you "opened many other files" and why does it "lead to confusion"? Surely the presence of the image thumbnails at the top of the Paint.NET window is the reminder that you have multiple files open.
  16. Do people not ask politely and say "please" now when seeking assistance? A lot of the new posters on this excellent forum seem to be VERY DEMANDING! Hats off to MJW, EER, and others who always respond so helpfully despite the questioner's tone.
  17. You could check the file type here https://www.checkfiletype.com/ It determines the file type based on the file's contents (not the extension) and it understands Paint.Net files
  18. As you wish. But that's not my experience. I'd agree that clicking the mouse is faster - but I said using the mouse... Moving the mouse from the part of the image where you are working up to the toolbar, clicking the grid icon, and then moving the mouse back to the right place in the image to continue working every time you want to toggle the grid on and off is way slower than using a keyboard sequence, which can be done with one hand while the other hand remains on the mouse.
  19. In the absence of a specific shortcut key to do what you want, you can press ALT+V to open the View menu, then press g to toggle the Pixel grid on/off. If you practice this, you can do it almost as fast as using a shortcut key, and much faster than using the mouse. See the underlined letters here? They are the menu shortcuts. If you want to see underlined letters all the time (not just when you press ALT), then please read this article: https://www.groovypost.com/howto/make-windows-10-highlight-underline-menu-shortcut-keys/
  20. Yes, it was from me. +1 for Windows 7 (until I have to upgrade for 4.4.x goodness)
  21. People will be more able to help you if you post your 2D image and your 3D-like bank note image. Otherwise it's just guess-work as to what you are starting with.
  22. @Jane Anderson In case you are wondering how to get to the documentation, it can be is accessed: - here https://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/ - or by pressing F1 - or via the icon, top right of the window: Paint.NET is packed with capabilities. You discover a lot by careful reading of the very well written documentation.
  23. Click on the first thumbnail. Hold down the Ctrl+W key so that the keypress repeats. The windows will close in rapid succession.
