silhouette feature?

Does any one know how to get this silhouette effect, I got this image from a website, I would like to do this effect on some of my images and use them as backgrounds, but I am not sure how to get this desired effect from a photogragh. I ddi not see any Tutorials on this.

From the looks of it:

1) Cut out your subject

2) Brightness/Contrast (Ctrl+Shift+C)

Brightness: -100

Contrast: 100

The image should be entirely black after that.

From there you could change it to gray or whatever other color you want.

Playing with the opacity might help too.

Yup, that's how I make mine!

1. I selected photos that featured my daughter's profiles.

2. Then I erased everything from the photos that I didnt want in the silhouette.

3. I changed the picture to b&w then lowered the contrast and the brightness down all the way to the left. They were practically black.

4. Then I used the Magic Wand to select the shape of the silhouette and painted them completely black.

5. Next I feathered the edges to smooth the image out.
