laurieann143
I am creating a logo. It needs to be of decent resolution (obviously)...font size I'm using is near 200. The letters have blocky edges. The image size is correct. I'm totally confused. Is the problem with the font file? Thanks for any responses... -Laurie Ann Quote It gets better
Rick Brewster
I'm guessing you're on Windows XP, where Paint.NET is using GDI for font rendering (it's what is used for text rendering just about everywhere on XP). GDI will not render with antialiasing at that font size. For some reason it just quietly disables it. You will have to upgrade to Windows 7, and then Paint.NET will use DirectWrite and text will be much better looking. pyrochild
Workaround: Create the text at 4x the size you need, then go to Image > Resize and scale it down to 25%. This should gve the text silky smooth edges. (When resizing, make sure Resampling is set to "Best Quality") Quote ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it! Rick Brewster
That is also a pretty darn good workaround. If you're adding text to an existing image, then you will want to create a new image for the text. Delete the background (Edit -> Select All [Ctrl+A], Edit -> Erase Selection [Del]), draw the text at 4x (size 800), then resize the image to 25% (Edit -> Resize [Ctrl+R]), then copy it all (Edit -> Select All, Edit -> Copy [Ctrl+C]), and then go back to the other image and Edit -> Paste into New Layer (Ctrl + Shift + V). laurieann143
Wow, thanks, Rick Brewster and pyrochild. The computer I'm using is running Windows xp, that explains that. I'll get right to your workaround tip. Thanks!! Edited April 8, 2012 by laurieann143 Quote It gets better
