mckinlt
Paint.net is not working for me when I try to launch it: "The application has failed because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail." So, when I attempt to do an uninstall from the control panel to uninstall and then try a new install, this pops up: "There us a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run." I've gone through the installer posts already to make sure I have net framework, etc in place. Thanks so much, tammi
pyrochild
Try running the file PdnRepair.exe. It'll be wherever you installed Paint.NET, eg C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\PdnRepair.exe Quote ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it! pyrochild
What version of Paint.NET do you have installed? Which version of the .NET framework do you have? Do you have .NET 3.5 SP1? Have you tried repairing the framework? Quote ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it!

pyrochild
Paint.NET is designed to run on 64-bit systems. Did you try the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility? Sarkut
64-bit is supported. You might look in the x86 folder to be sure that some installation files didn't go there mistakenly.
mckinlt
I did try the win installer cleanup. I get a ms vbscript runtime error 800A0046 when I run it after downloading from the geeks site.

I checked - don't see any installs in there and no folder for paint.net
