how to algn picture on a background?

I am new to paint.net. I have searched to find out how to do this with no luck. All I want to do is make a 1920x1200 background and insert a smaller picture and center it. I have tried using align plugin but it does not seem to do anything. How do you do this? Many thanks...

Put the small image at a new layer and use The center in the bottom one (pic will be taken later) and Q.E.D!

Make your 1920x1200 background.

Import the smaller picture:

Layers > Import from File

Press the Esc key to deselect.

Use the Align Object plugin effect to center the smaller picture.

The Align Object plugin effect won't work while the smaller picture is still selected.

OK... Thanks. I was missing deselection of smaller pic.
