I have downloaded paint.net and was able to scan a page of text and graphics to it. So far so good. But, it's not too friendly as to editing the text. How do you erase words and insert text? Tried help but the tutorial is not friendly. I am helping a friend to edit a catalog and she will want to erase lines on a wire fence and add new ones in addition to editing the text. Is that possible. Thanks for your help.

give us the image and we'll see what you want.

yeah, doesn't sound to hard...but that could change after we see the image

The actual pages that we'll be working on are not here. I was just practicing on a chart that I scanned. I was trying to edit the text and see if I could erase some of the lines. That way I can help my friend tomorrow. But, I can't figure out how to edit the text or erase lines. She is changing the pages of a catalog from her company. Originally we tried to scan from the scanner into Word and that works to a certain extent. We can alter and change the text, but it does really weird things when she tries to change the shapes of the tomato cages. Does this make any sense? Bottom line: how do we edit text and graphics using paint.net?

are you wanting PdN to recognize the text and then let you "backspace" to clear it out and then let you enter your new text, cuz that can't be done. basicly what your going to need to do is erase the text, re-enter what you want and try and fill in the background to match up.

Yes I was trying to have paint recognize the text and let me backspace and fix. You said: "basicly what your going to need to do is erase the text, re-enter what you want and try and fill in the background to match up."

Okay, that is helpful advice. I have never used any program remotely similiar to Paint. Please tell me exactly how to erase the text, and fill in background. I see the little eraser and think I need to move that back over the text...then what do I do to make it disappear?

I honestly do not think that using Paint.NET is a viable option for someone with your skill set and/or needs. It really doesn't seem like PdN is what you are looking for. PdN works w/ pixels, like in a picture. To change the text you need to change the individual pixels (yes, those are the tiny, tiny dots).

EDIT: Where are you located anyway? Maybe Rick Brewster could commission one of us Geek Squad types to come out and give you private lessons.

Raven: sounds good but this person needs us to give detailed step by step insructions (a.k.a. do it for them), and all without ever seeing the source....
