Sir_Timbit
How do I deploy the Paint.net 5.0.12 MSI so that it doesn't install a desktop shortcut? I know you used to extract the MSI from the exe and could specify the desktopshortcut=0 at that time, but from what I've read you can't extra the MSI from the exe since version 4.33. eg) msiexec paint.net.5.0.12.winmsi.x64.msi /q /desktopshortcut=0 does not work. Thanks, Sir_Timbit
Sir_Timbit
Saw that I had a typo above. I know that msiexec /i "paint.net.5.0.12.winmsi.x64.msi" /q works, but it creates the desktop icon, which I was looking to avoid.
Rick Brewster
Did you read the instructions? https://getpaint.net/doc/latest/UnattendedInstallation.html And the MSI isn't extractable because it's provided separately now. https://github.com/paintdotnet/release/releases In general, unless you're doing a deployment across a large network of PCs and know exactly what you're doing, it's not a good idea to use the MSI. Sir_Timbit
That's the page I'm comparing to. Yes, I have the MSI, not the exe. So, the desktopshortcut=0 switch is only valid for the .exe version, not the MSI?
Rick Brewster
If you're using the MSI then you need to supply properties (DESKTOPSHORTCUT=0 included) with whatever syntax it is that msiexe uses for specifying properties. Sir_Timbit
Ah, I see what you mean. I was able to open the MSI using ORCA and adjust the property there. That seems to do the trick. Thanks!
