Image thumbnail has black background when saving as png, if image has to be flattened

^^ Read title ^^

When viewing the image file in windows explorer, the background of the thumbnail will be black instead of transparent. I am quite sure this only happens if you save a LAYERED image as a png file, i.e. you have to press the big flatten button. It doesn't always happen, but I don't think any other action produces this result.

Sounds like a bug in Windows Explorer then. And I have no way to try and reproduce this because you didn't say which version of Windows you're using ...
