image saved incorrectly (?)

I went to save an image in PNG format, but I cant seem to open it again in paint.net or on my computer's image viewing program. It did not ask me to flatten the image and I saved over an existing file. These are the error details that showed up:

Is there a way that I can recover this image?

Maybe you saved it as a .PDN file with the extension of .PNG?

 

Change the extension and see if it will load.
