1. Note: The Colors box itself is also quite small, the 2 primary / secondary colour boxes themselves are small to work with. I've got 20/20 with my glasses on, I'm approximately 1.3' from a 30" Dell @ 2560x1600, I would hazard a guess, the boxes are only .5"x.5" Rick, I do appreciate the work regardless. I imagine working on the UI would be ..not a pleasant experience as a coder. EDIT: I've taken to using my 30" Dell at 1280x800 to make it a bit easier. 1/4 resolution
2. I totally realise that it won't be fixed instantly, I was just venting frustration. What I'm *actually* looking for with this thread, is confirmation from the developers "hey, that's a good idea, it's on the list" as it stands, there's no clarification here that anyone besides the users care.
3. Please, I'll pay at this point, I'm on a 30 layer image here 11111x11111 and the thumbnails are effectively, invisible..
4. No as in you haven't thought of it, or no as in you don't like the idea? Couldn't it be a fun little incentive for the forums? I'm sure many users don't even frequent the forums.
5. The weird thing is, if I export the source vectorization from vector magic, out into a .AI or .SVG file and open it in inkscape the transparency below isn't there - it's filled out correctly. I then used Inkscape to export out to PNG, instead of direct to PNG from vector magic, adding a needless thing in the process, it improved the output but still had the transparency below. I can't drop a filled background behind it, because eventually I'm going to print it so 3/4 of the image is infact transparent. I feel like this ultimately isn't paint.net's "problem" I could've sworn I found a way around this in the past.
6. I've got some images I've converted using Vector Magic, unfortunately the resulting files sometimes end up with a gap in between each vector / cell. http://i.imgur.com/2tfDWaC.png I've found if I use the colour picker, then use the colour fill, it sometimes 'buffs out' the size of the cell slightly larger and fixes this. On an image using MANY vectors, this is tedious work. Admittedly this isn't paint.NET's fault at all, but I'm curious if there's a simple fix? Thanks all.
7. Have the developers considered a "flair" (donator) flag for forums members who've donated to the cause?
8. Take a look at this screenshot, I've made the thumbnail window quite large - it's about 13"x8" on my monitor, yet the thumbnails are utterly miniscule. http://chattypics.com/files/30inch30inch24inch_gkxev8mji2.jpg
9. Please don't take this as rude, but almost no one changes the dpi settings in Windows, because it makes a giant mess of things in many MANY other applications. Regardless of my 4k comments, I have quite regular displays and the thumbnails are tiny, 30" Dell 2560 and 24" Dell, 1920 Also, some users may want large Thumbnails, some huge thumbnails and some are fine with them how they are now. Having to manipulate the entire Windows dpi settings for one app seems a bit f a bad solution. If I could code, I'd gladly help, I can't but as it stands, I would say they are at least 50% too small. They should just scale with the size of the layers box? I've got 3 displays, I'd love to maximise the entire layers box on a second display and just have them huge, personally.
10. Anyone know how I can make the layers much larger, if at all? It's 2015, I've got 3 monitors here, I'd love to re-size that windows significantly and have either the thumbnails for each layer scale or go into the options and tick the box "big layer thumbnails" and "really <No cursing.> big, layer thumbnails" It's nearly 2016, 4k monitors will be common place for graphics guys in 24months. Thanks all, really appreciate the work on this app regardless. ♥
11. I've also installed a tool called inkscape but I'm not fluent with it.
12. Hello all, Can these photoshop functions be done in Paint.Net? http://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/36275/how-to-create-an-artistically-posterized-monotone-portrait I'm ...basically completely clueless graphically, with little art skills (sorry!) I'm getting a little better as time goes on, but I'm having difficulty being able to achieve the look I'm going for in some of my images. That guide I've linked at the top seems to show how to produce really great looking black / white (or at least sub 10 colour) images, which could be good for printing on a shirt. Does anyone have any suggestions or links to guides on artistic styles best for t-shirt production? I find I use Vector Magic quite a bit initially to try and smooth out and clean up my images, it's not perfect but it seems to be helpful, it's just I 'fiddle' rather than know what I'm doing I've attached pics of what I'm working on at the moment, mostly to show you guys (and girls) just how bad I am at this. I think I can finally 'cut out' an object fairly well (that takes me over 15 minutes tho) but messing with the colours, stenciling etc - nightmare with my skills! That pic took near an hour to get where it is. I'm enjoying the fiddling but I'm pretty clueless
13. Hi My aplogies I had (very little) idea what I was doing last night, a bit more now. My new (hopefully final) issue, is the plugin I'm using to apply the halftone effect is applying the effect in black white AND GREY. I need (or would strongly prefer) that it is literally ONLY black blocks of varying sizes, literally a 2 colour only image. Am I doing something wrong? I believe I'm using the one supplied here. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/18811-ed-harvey-effects-v-35-2012-02-13/
14. I want to subtract anything but black underneath, so when it's uploaded to redbubble (t-shirt manufacturer) the image doesn't bleed 'white' anywhere on the print. I'm unsure how to remove all white / grey elements.
15. I'm trying to follow this guide and reproduce these results, with Paint Shop Pro 5.0 (yes, ... 5) and Paint.NET http://wegraphics.net/blog/tutorials/photoshop-quick-tip-turn-any-photo-in-a-screen-printed-graphic/ I'm getting close but when I transparent the image with the alpha mask and upload to my shirt printing site, there's still.. "white levels" or something in the image? it looks wrong on certain coloured shirts. I'm going to assume, I need to be producing a transparent PNG file with ONLY BLACK pixels of varying size? Similar to newspaper print? (See the guys very last pic in the tutorial) What am I doing wrong? You can clearly see in this pic, only one colour (a very bright one) will reduce the visible screwup on my behalf. http://imgur.com/YSTCa4g Sorry for all these questions, I really am - my graphical skills are nigh on zero
16. What's the easiest way to pull the background out by hand? I'm taking pics and turning them into prints on t-shirts, so I can have one of a kind ones. I've found the magic wand is an amazing piece of code though for isolating a "section" - I love the draggable slider on how aggressive it is. The problem is, occassionally it gets exactly what I want BUT then bleeds in somehow and highlights someones cheek or something, you know? So I'd like to apply magic wand, WITHIN another selection somehow - perhaps I can segment my image off into layers? Does this make sense
17. Hello, I love the magic wand - I'm a graphical newbie - but I'd like to be able to "cordon off" where it goes. Is there a an easy way to do this? As a (complete!) idiot, I could just split the image up each time, take out the section I want into a new image and then put it back. NOTE: the tool is working correctly and useful - but I'm trying to strip elements out of a screenshot of a film and I am AWFUL at using hand guided cut / selection tools (which would make things much easier) Example: https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4108/5186319615_4078436655.jpg The way they've stripped the background of this image http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/robocop/images/d/d2/Clarence_boddicker.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20100729203832 is pure magic to my skills Any tips on running the magic wand more carefully?
18. Got it, it's a package I use called Winsplit revoloution (bloody great app) - it had a hotkey set for CTRL-ALT-V which does nothing. I apologise and thanks again, appreciate the help. (in time, I WILL switch to this damn paint.net - but as a hardcore hotkey user it's....... difficult considering it omits some windows standard hotkeys I've been using for nearly 20 years) Either way, thanks guys!
19. Interesting, ok heck - well if it works for others, I speculate it is my end - what a bugger, let me investigate, I'll let you know what I find.
20. Rick, any thoughts on this? I really want to move towards open source / free software instead of having a copy of Paint Shop Pro on my workstation from literally 1999. As I said, what I do is I take anywhere from 5 to 20 photos of an object frequently, then I simply drag ALL of them in to my graphics package and switch through them, those I don't like, I discard. Paint Shop Pro has "CTRL-DEL" (or file delete rather) - WITH A CONFIRMATION this saves me huge amounts of time by closing the picture and of course deleting it. You've stated you don't want to add this, that's fine - but at least the "open folder location" (and highlighting the file) would instantly put me in explorer and I'd just have to manually hit delete, click ok and alt tab back to the program. Not ideal but workable.
21. I'm not trying to be an < no swearing > but have you actually tested this at your end? It's not working here, both sets of CTRL-ALT are not working. The keys are absoloutely fine.
22. Hot key is frequently not working. Pretty straightforward really. Windows 7, 64bit Version 3.3x, 3.5 (what??) I can highlight a portion of an image, hit control C to copy to clipboard, CTRL-ALT-V - does not work. Manually clicking EDIT Paste into new image (which clearly states to use CTRL-ALT-V) works fine. Thanks
