  1. Ah, okay. Usually when I download a plug in, it makes me unzip it first. For some reason this one didn't come zipped, and just went straight into the folder, which was throwing me off. Got it now. ^_^ Thanks!

Sorry bout that. I thought about zipping it and then decided not to because it was just the single file. I tend to over think things. Should have zipped it up like I first though. Thanks to Barbieq for the instructions ! She's a proverbial lifesaver !

  2. Honestly, this discussion about paint on wings is getting out of hand and is now quite irrelevant since the first contest is already over and we are drawing on cats now. No need to get worked up...

I would never paint a cat. Maybe a light coat of varnish......

  3. I have already decided what the next theme will be. But first a little background. I had a specific need for something and Pyrochild was nice enough to take a look at it and came up with this really great plug-in, Grid Gradient. He has not yet posted it to the plug-ins forum, but has given me permission to post it here and use it as the basis for the next WOTW theme. It creates a grid and fills each cells with a gradient. It is an extremely versatile little tool that once you play around with it, will give you many ideas for it's use. So in order to give you all a chance to get familiar with it, here is a link to my Media Fire folder.

    http://www.mediafire.com/file/lyo746csmr1vuod/GridGrad.dll

Enjoy ! Make sure you let all your friends know about it so everyone knows it's here and ready for the next WOTW !

pyrochild edit: Full version of Gradient Grid is here: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/111660-gradient-grid/

WOTW # 35 Toys in the Attic

WOTW Comp Rules: All submissions must be created in Paint.net with the exception of renders and stock photos when allowed.

Minimum size is 800 X 600. There is no maximum size, but keep in mind that people will want to look at your image

and if it takes too long to load, they may not look at it.

Please try to make your image in the proportion of a Wallpaper, because this is a Wallpaper comp. (Duh!)

NO PLACEHOLDERS Do not post an entry until it is a finished product. NO WIPS !

Obviously you cannot use the stocks or renders as your entire submission, so the majority of your image should be

    created in Paint.net.

Special rule # 5. Do not anger the Possum.

    WOTW # 35 - Toys in the Attic !

Theme Rules. Please read this !

Theme is " Toys in the Attic !"

    The Theme Idea:

You are to make a wallpaper that depicts the your interpretation of the phrase “Toys in the Attic”.

It can be in the literal sense, as in old toys stored in an attic, or it can be used as an euphemism for insanity.

In the literal sense, the image can emote the feelings of nostalgia, fond memories of your childhood or even a sense of loss for days gone by.

In the metaphorical sense the phrase can bring on an entirely different ranges of emotions depending on the state of mind you are trying to describe.

In my case it would be full blown lunacy, but that's a different story for another time....

You must use Paint.Net but you may also use other graphics programs as well. You may not use stock images or renders.

This comp will run for TWO Weeks !

DO NOT Post your entries in this thread. PM your entries to me and I will post them as they come in.

Entry period for this competition will run through 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening (August 20th, 2011), U.S. Eastern Time.

All submissions entered up to this time will be allowed.

If you have any questions, post them in the Discussion Thread or PM Possum Roadkill. I would be happy to help anyone interested.

THEME IS:  Alien Wildlife (photo manipulation)

Theme rules: You are to make a space image depicting Alien Wildlife using STOCK IMAGES of existing animals by combining or modifying them.

It can be any kind of animal/plant combination (hybrid) that you can imagine.

You can place your alien wildlife in it's natural environment (on an alien world) or as if it has been somehow transported to our planet for a visit.

You can show the creature by itself, interacting with other creatures, or as if it may be under the control of an alien being (like a pet or service animal).

You may include any other non-space objects like people, cars, boats, trees, possums etc.

Thanks to everyone who entered, thanks to everyone who voted ! Thanks for being patient while I've been working through things. :D

  10. Sorry for the delay everybody. I have unfortunately had a relapse of my illness. I'll try to get a new theme going as soon as I can. Please be patient, the doctor has me pumped full of meds for the next few days. I should be fine in a week or so and get things back on track.

  11. How about "Alien Wildlife"? Not a sentient alien, necessarily, but something that would correspond with our animals.

Or "Alien Flora/Fauna", which would include animals *and* plants?

"Alien Wildlife" Brilliant idea ! This would be a great photo-manip theme for the Space Art Comp. We could take photos of several animals and mix them together for a hybrid alien animal. "Alien Flora" would be a good theme for original artwork.

Have we done just asteroids/meteors/comets yet? That would include "shooting stars" and anything else related...

EDIT:Or you could do space debris...

We've done "asteroids/meteors/comets" which would include shooting stars (technically), but we could have a variation on that theme if you can flesh it out a little. Maybe another alien landscape kind of theme?

  12. OK we've had two entries come in tonight, so keep them coming ! Very imaginative ! I'm going to leave the entry period open until Saturday or Sunday night depending on where you live. If you have an entry in the works, please let me know so I can include everyone who wants to enter !

  13. Since I've been out sick all last week and only got back to getting on a computer today, I would like to keep this comp's entry period open until the weekend. Is everyone OK with that?

I certainly hope more people enter this comp. It's really not a hard theme because stuff in the microscopic world look so abstract and unreal it opens up things to a wide interpretation.

  14. Winners are as follows;
