Some pictures I wonder how to create:
Urnemanden replied to theevilworm's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Take a screenshot of a window like the ones you see on the picture, then paste :Paste: them into Paint.NET. Duplicate the layer and go to the first layer ("Background"). Go to Layer -> Mirror vertical :Vertical: Go back to your duplicated layer (The one which isn't mirrored vertically) Open Rotate/Zoom (Ctrl+Shift+Z) and play around with the globe in upper left corner till it looks the way you want it. Press OK. Go to your vertical mirrored layer and open Rotate/Zoom and press OK. Now Use the gradient tool and make sure that the alpha channel option :AlphaChannel: is set. Now make a gradient from the start of your vertical mirrored window and to about the half way down. Image -> Flatten and you have your final result -

Palm Leaf -- Basic Beginners -- Moderate difficulty.
Urnemanden replied to oma's topic in Beginner Tutorials
Talking about colors, I didn't use the HEX Decimals you were using, since I wanted something more home-made. So what I did was that I took the colors you are mentioning and then I am finding a color close enough to it instead. But in the end the colors began to look boring, especially because I somehow didn't end up with thoose "light-stripes" from the gradient bars, like you. PM me when your back from holidays and let's go thru it all. It would be great to learn how to do this correctly -

Palm Leaf -- Basic Beginners -- Moderate difficulty.

Here is my try. I didn't find this tutorial easy at all, actually I was quite depressed after trying the 4th time with no succes. So I decided to do some of the stuff in my own way. I fixed the awful colors I ended up with using layer experimenting and then I did the moving manually because I had problems with the align. As some extra stuff I added some shadows to improve the realisticness. That's what I ended up with: Thanks for this great tutorial, Oma. It also helped me in a lot of other ways. Well, I guess I just need a little more practice before I some day can make a branch with leaves with no problems. -

Seamless Grass Texture tutorial needed
Urnemanden replied to Urnemanden's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Thanks Adam I used your method in my blend of 7-8 different ways to make a grass texture and I got this result: The reason to that the grass texture is so bright is because it should only be 100% brightened where the sun is. -
Covering a branch with a texture
Urnemanden replied to Urnemanden's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Good news! Today I experimented with my branch and with a grunge texture I found and here is the result I like it better than before myself, because it's now more in the "I-am-a-branch-which-has-been-hanging-on-a-tree-outside-day-and-night-in-many-years" style, if you know that style. comments, suggestions & ideas are very welcome -
Skinning model textures from UV maps
Urnemanden replied to lppena's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Maybe I am wrong or sound like I think you don't have experience (this is not the case at all), but do you mean, coloring with a transperant color on another color? If thats so, then just press the "Advanced" button and then you will find what you need. If you mean making a layer more or less transperant (all pixels), then try Bolbaits Transperancy Plugin  -
Your welcome

So, I expect that you just do a fast magic wand on art like this?

Covering a branch with a texture
Urnemanden replied to Urnemanden's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Thanks for noticing, Oma. Here is the second attempt: I tried dents on it, but it didnt help much. There must be some way to make it look more real on. But I am ok with the result so far. Thank you for the help. And here I tried using relief, as Curmudgeon mentioned: For some reason it didn't really seem to help in the end, but I tried  Any suggestions, tips or tricks are very welcome. That was why I started this topic. -
Let's say that this is a compressed JPEG photo and you accidentically deleted the PDN file. Now you want the transperancy back, but the magic wand always leaves something left. Maybe there is a lot of small places where there is white between the actual object, like on photos of trees, bushes, plants etc. That is why that a tool like this could be usefull

Covering a branch with a texture
Urnemanden replied to Urnemanden's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
I just tried Oma's method to do it and here is the result: I got a more dark-golden color than oma did, but anyway. I will try again using Curmudgeon's way and see if I'll get a better result -
Hello! I got a branch I made not so long ago (look below, and after using the Line/Curve tool to give it shape, I stopped and was thinking. Because I don't got any idea of how to cover the branch with a bark/trunk texture. I didn't even make a texture for it yet. If any of you know or have an idea, maybe just a tip or trick that may help me, I would be very happy. I know that Ash made a tutorial of how to make wood, but the result is more ideal for indoor wood/cutted wood than for a branch. To help you some more, i uploaded the pdn file. Download it by clicking here! Thanks for reading & replying if you do that
