  3. It's hard to make a detailed result when you have a 256x256 game texture. I would like to add detail, but then it won't look seamless. Only like repeating itself. Thanks LFC4EVER i will try it out later  Does any of you on this forum know an other way to make a grass texture like that?

  5. Thank you, but i aleready saw that one. I need a "top-view of grass" texture. But actually after experimentating, T got a good result Let me show how i did, so you can come with suggestions to how to make it better. Seamless Grass Texture (256x256) Start by changing the Canvas Size :CanvasSize: to 260x260 Use the Paintbucket :FillSelection: to Paint the background Black Add a new layer :AddNewLayer: Use the Paintbucket :FillSelection: to paint the layer white and add some noise using the settings below. Your Picture should now look like tuttifrutti like you see to the right below. Make the picture black and white & duplicate the layer :DuplicateLayer: . Now, use Smooth on Layer 1, and go to Layer Properties :Properties: on layer 2. Set the Opacity down to 109. Merge the Layer 2 down to Layer 1  and duplicate the Layer again :DuplicateLayer: . Your Layer's Windows should now look like this. Select Layer 1 and use Alpha Mask on it. Select Layer 2 And use Alpha Mask with the Invert Selection checkbox marked. Go to Rotate/Zoom , mark the tiling checkbox and change the X Pan to 0,276. The layerwindow and texture should now look like this. Find 2 good green Colors and use Color Tint (using primary colour) on Layer 1. Use brightness/Contrast afterwards to make it darker. Now go to Layer 2, use Color Tint (using secondary color) and use Brightness/Contrast again to make it darker. Select Layer 1 again and merge layer down  Use Hue/Saturation afterwards to get the color you want of the grass. To make it seamless and in 256x256 size, flatten the image, Choose the Rectangle selector . Start at the cordinates 2,2 and make a square while holding Shift until you selected a 256x256 square. Copy the selection and make a new image to paste it to. Go to the old image, press Ctrl+I to invert the selection, copy it and paste it to a new image. Re-Size :Resize: it to 256x256, Ctrl+A and then Ctrl+C. Create a new layer on the 256x256 grass texture and paste. Use true feather with the standard settings and flatten. Your result should look like this:

  7. Hello all! I've been searching for a grass tutorial, because i am making a jungle track. What i found by searching on the forum was this & this, but i need a seamless grass texture tutorial, so it wasnt what i was looking for. I've been trying out some methods and the closest thing i came to seamless jungle grass was this: Thanks for the help. Urne EDIT: Ah, and btw 256x256 is appreciated

  9. Aah, ok that's a good result. Thanks for the explanation.
  10. I would like to know how you made that texture so well, by tiling, Curmudgeon. Would you mind explain that?
  11. Here is my suggestion: Made the picture using: - A glass effect with rounded corners - Glow on the black - A gradient using Orange as primary color & black as secondary color. Then deleting everything outside the letters & inside the letters (like O) - Feather on the gradient layer EDIT: looks much better on black or dark grey, than this light blue board color  EDIT 2: I think it needs some more rounded corners, but you can edit the pdn that the image links to
  12. Hmm, i just found out that that picture isn't seamless. Dunno what went wrong in the above reply. Anyways. I did make it seamless. here is what i did: - First i made the Canvas size bigger in height - Then i copied the tree trunk into a new layer and aligned it down using Object Align - You can now see that the treetrunk isn't seamless. - I made it seamless by adding a new layer :AddNewLayer: & copying and aligning another copy of the tree trunk into the middle. -Now i made a gradient using theese settings -Then i made a gradient so it looked liked that - Then i flattened :Flatten: , and copied the half of the trunk over to the top of the trunk. - Now i used Canvas size :CanvasSize: 2 times to do delete the down part trunk. then i created a new layer and copied and aligned the trunk, wich is now seamless.
  13. You could try saving them in different layers instead. Or try save them in a new folder as .pdn. then when you want to open them all, you just press Ctrl+A and Enter.
  14. Yes i have, i tried it before, but this tool mirrors the image, vertical and/or horizontal, wich sometimes gives a bad effect to the texture. I just tried it on the trunk texture and it seems to look fine, but as you can see, there is a horizontal line in the middle because the texture is mirrored.
  15. Well, both of them needs to be seamless, but yes the moss should be seamless too. I tried the clone tool many times before on stuff, but i would really wish that you had the option to tile the clouds, so it is seamless.
  16. Look at this picture below and you will see what i mean: Nice trunk you got there
  17. Here is the example picture we want to crop: - use the Square or Lasso selector tool ( / :LassoTool:) to select the area you want to stay on the picture. Click and drag. -Now you will see something like this or what Oma calls it: Marching ants. -Now to crop to the selection, just press this button :Crop: (also named "Crop") -And now your image is cropped! EDIT: aah, lol. I think that was a-not-usefull post i made there xD
  18. that's a pretty nice picture you got there welshblue. If anyone want a moss effect like mine then try this out: - Add a new layer :AddNewLayer: - Render some clouds :Clouds:. Just use the settings you see below, if you don't want to customize it yourself. - Go to "Adjustments -> Color to Alpha" and set Tolerance to 100 as shown below. -Use "Color balance" or any other tool to give it a green look. (click on the picture to view the result as it is right now) - Now use Hue/Saturation or any other tool to give it the right moss color. The result should like like this: How would you do it?
  19. You can get different results using Shape3D, Bulge :Bulge:, twist :Twist:, Lens & Sinwaves, but i couldn't get any good results at all :?
  20. Thank you for the link welshblue. I would like to master that too. An other problem is also that the trunk isn't seamless. and i am pretty sure that even the clone tool can't make it that. Here is the new render with the (not seamless ) texture applied
  21. Thanks for the tip Down, i think it helped a bit. That example you came up with there, welshblue is very nice. I don't think it looks like a tree trunk, but instead a really nice rock texture. Would you mind give a link to the "Height Field to Normal" plugin? It looks very usefull  I will try the new texture on the branch, and then i will post a pic next time i reply.
  22. Yea it was something like that i was thinking of. maybe a lil bit greener like this. btw, how did you make that one? EDIT: i tried to make the trunk texture. here is a look:
  23. If i made the branch in Paint.NET fully, don't you think that it would take pretty long time to copy n' paste a leaf, rotate the leaf, and then place the leaf? I aleready tried this method but that took even longer time that rotating copying and placing leaves in the 3D program. I also tried to make my own mossy trunk texture, but the final result went into a bit nasty look. I will try some more, but i need to experimentate a lot before i can get a good result. The problem is that the tree trunk needs to be seamless in the top and bottom, and the cloning tool doesnt help that much. :? Any ideas or suggestions to effects, stepbysteps tuts, feedback, or other very helpfull replys is very welcome
