  1. He is a libertarian, not a republican. Doesn't matter, really. The whole American political spectrum is skewed to the right.
  2. And you do? I seriously doubt that you're any more qualified in social psychology than I am. Besides, not everybody is out to make themselves better than everyone else. There are some people out there that are out to make the world a better place even if it means sacrificing their own position. I only know what I see, and what I see is ugly. But, in capitalism I see opportunity. It is true that I see the value in leaving to die those who choose not to work. Why should I be forced through the sweat of my brow to put food on your table so that you can do nothing? I would rather not work than be forced into labor for your benefit. And, if you die because I refuse to work then the world is a better place. If you want a charity, go to the church. If I am feeling generous that's where I'll give... but, don't hold your breath. "Your eyes deceive you, don't trust them." Appearances can be deceiving and you obviously can't see beyond your bias. You can't see that maybe your system doesn't work because you're too busy waving your flag and following the dogmatic bloody potato of your preacher.
  3. How is suddenly imposing a new philosophy on people going to change their opinions in favor of it? If you can think of a better way feel free. Either way "every man for himself" doesn't work that well. How would you like it if you were one the people who lives under a bridge eating garbage because the economy screwed you over?
  4. And it's reasons like that why I say humanity is too screwed up and we should just nuke everything and let nature start over. And how is communism going to achieve that? Hopefully by making humanity realize that we're all in it together and life isn't a giant competition we can evolve beyond our pettiness.

  6. And the whole idea of communism is based on imposing the Marxist ideal. And the whole idea of capitalism is every man for himself, f the guys that get left behind. And you do? I seriously doubt that you're any more qualified in social psychology than I am. Besides, not everybody is out to make themselves better than everyone else. There are some people out there that are out to make the world a better place even if it means sacrificing their own position. You can have ambition without greed, you know.
  7. Who is to say what my abilities are? Who determines what my needs are? Let's play a game of "Hiding one's abilities and exaggerating one's needs", shall we? You're assuming that everyone is out to be better than everyone else. That's not necessarily a valid assumption.
  8. Like I said, you can't fix stupid. It seems to me you just insulted yourself. Explanation, perhaps? I noted that you were most likely being sarcastic in that statement. In that case you really meant the opposite saying that communism isn't popular because communists are stupid. In my statement I took the meaning that communism isn't popular because everyone else is stupid. Thus my statement.
  9. American's know. We've tried. Just because Americans tried that doesn't prove anything
  10. I'd rather not. This is a predominantly American board and Americans, seemingly by nature, have major problems with people who support communism. And it seems reciprocated by our unenlightened brethren. "You can't fix stupid." ~ Ron White

  12. But we are debating this now. No, I pointed something out and everyone else said that I was wrong and tried to push their beliefs on me. I was defending myself.
  13. Why are you trying to debate something you are not prepared to question? Because I haven questioned it in the past and have decided that my current philosophy is right for me.
  14. And you have just pointed out how reluctant you are to question your philosophy. Why should I change it? My philosophy works for me. It's the same as if someone was making you have a HUGE fundamental change in your thinking with the way you're thinking now is perfectly fine.
  15. No, you don't have to follow my point of view. But, what's the point of arguing with an uninformed person? Plus, if you read the book, we wouldn't be having this conversation. You're right. We wouldn't. I'd be busy burning the book.
  16. I was stating opinion, not fact. @Botlbait In otherwords you refuse to discuss anything until I follow your point of view.
  17. Well, we can tell how enlightened you are just from that statement. One cannot infer another's state of enlightenment from reading another's incrediably short statement.
  18. Capata-what? The worst time for spelling mistakes is when attempting to defend a losing argument Thus showing that you are closed-minded and unwilling to accept ideas other than those which you were originally presented with. Typos happen. I'm a fast typer and can't catch everything. No, not close minded. If you had read my arguements as to why I wish not to read it you wouldn't have said that.
  19. And you are unwilling to read a book arguing the faults in what you are saying? No, I'm unwilling to read the book because from what I've heard of it it sounds uninteresting. There's also the fact that I'm about 6 years backlogged in my books read to books purchased ratio. @Boltbait HA! Fat chance of that. A book has as much chance of making me change my point of view as I would have convincing you to assassinate the president. Also, your point of view that everyone should worship the almighty dollar is hardly enlightened.
  20. I have no desire to read that book. All I'm saying is competition and the reward of money isn't the only thing that drives humanity. This is what I get for arguing against capatalism with an American...
  21. Amadeus is actually very inaccurate from a historical point of view. Hollywood has a tendancy to stretch the truth to make things more entertaining. No violence
  22. This whole concept was always part of nature - it is the way life works at every level. Do you have a right to your neighbour's work? Yes, it's part of nature but I'm hoping that humanity is beyond competing with each other for our own survival. I'm hoping that humanity is ready to work together with one another for the advancement of our society. Unfortunetally I keep getting proved wrong. Humans are no different than wolves. They'll work together but as soon as you become inconvenient they leave you to die.
