Photoshop has met its match :!:
i made the pencil and paper, stock icon with effects, but Photoshop is dead!
i hate photo shop.
Start opening up the skins sections in applications dewds; ATI has PDN files in the skins  I think ricks got himself a winner here. But then all of us addicts knew that
PS is pretty intense for learning. I have slowly been incorporating it into my work.

Thanks ash , it was pretty simple. Still looks cool though.
way to go on the links zookey !

Thats actually pretty cool
As far as the letters are concerned Hamster, I dont have a consistent methodology so you will have to wait.
-
Nab yours turned out better than the ps tut. seriously.
I want a save history option.
Thanks so much!! And I agree about the History-- Great job on 'Start'
The A turned out like frosted glass but I will probably redo it..

Thats really good for starters dewd.

^ this pretty much sums it up. you cant get much more ambiguous. Or implicitly random. maybe generic ? A non definitive reflective or refractive illusion. It has the illusion of 3d depth yet isnt.
-
I go for ambiguous light first and then glass edge thickness illusion, surface is a hard thing to randomize and ambiguous internal is relatively simple.

Awesome Job Verndewd- The gloss and transparent effect of the Letter is amazing
Thanks looks like other letters will be tricky.

Someone decided to sell PDN. I came across this when trying to find out how cheap you can get PS CS3 for.
He's perfectly legit. What he is doing is selling a service (compiling all of those programs onto a disk for you). It's clear (I think) that the programs themselves are otherwise free.
Is rick getting a cut? If not then Thats a problem. Rick and the gang deserve first crack at that. Thats not the way to get PDN out there IMHO. I have always thought The team should merchandise the goodies on disc here. video tuts and such, compiled plug in suites. But really there is no need for it.

Thats the american way  (whats left of it anyway.)

Thanks olav the admiration for talent is mutual That button is great.
This is after cmjc's tutorial on making cd shapes.
-
i did use aa on this thats the funny thing about it but for the jaggys on the metal i like it that way means keep your hands away from sharp edges lol as soon as i figure on copy each level to my chrome i will sometimes i get it too work right sometimes i don't it's a freak of nature.
funny
I didnt even look for that  it would have made this a bit easier. That and CMJC does great work.(< ponders wading through all the "tuts" to get to it,,,,,) sigh.

first ever cd so go figure I like how you got a crumpled metal shine there, but honestly the jaggies really detract from what could be a really cool wallpaper. I dont say that often as a matter of fact I think its the first aa annoyance I have ever experienced here.
Most likely due to the fact that it takes so much away from an other wise excellent scheme. As a thumb you think wow thats cool and then you zoom and,,,, Need to blur some edges there is too much cool going on not to.
could you throw 2 cents into the chrome 101 tut? Maybe something simple and unrevealing? Youre one of the folks persuing chrome so it would be cool to have a couple simple ideas that dont reveal everything about your technique.

Ash wouldnt stop inspiring me to greater things  the plug in writers wouldnt stop bieng brilliant  the few Great PDN artists couldnt hold back their generosity from making tuts.
And rick wouldnt stop evolving PDN. We should create a voters best list for PDN artists so I can cut and paste that to my da. Also have a voters best tutorial so I can flag the busy world down with that as well.
I am good because of my peers and my drive to experience my own vision of graphic art. I am good Because Rick made PDN and all the guys doing the coding have done a brilliant job. I am good because of the artists have shared their art in tutorials, I am good because people take my tutorials to their own level of excellence which inspires me more.
I am good because I have been gifted with artistic vision (by god) Art is humility, exploration, communication, fantasies, reality, the bridge from the body to the soul and infinity.
I am good because This forum and this program is good. And I returned that with dedication and hard work.
Thanks for the mention
As for me...I always think "I can do better", So..Am I good? Maybe, but can I do better That's the question, and the drive to become good/better at anything, not just PDN
Well I am modest, not terribly good. :wink:IMO, Quite good
Youre good and you know it , as I have become quite good, are we the best? no but we are good, for me it is an extension of god through me and I am simply a willing vessal.
Do I admire the ability that I have? most certainly ! Is there more that i need to learn? The path never ends
I like what I do, Its like talking to my higher self.
-
how about a firey cedar ring meteor? Honestly it looks more like Koa wood.
-
cedar ring, koa or striped ironwood, resembles a few woods I have worked with. Vaguely like certain cuts of zebra wood.
-
read some tuts , smart folks dont do freebies and youd do better finding your own path for it. Unless you think learning is bad It wont kill you to do it yourself from practicing on tutorials.
-
Very touchy idea for pdn its an exacting theme, ash. I just sharpened this very same pic and it brought out a more vivid glassy depiction. I must say , Ash has an eye for it
