Most of us (if not all) think his result is better than the tutorial.

I haven't read any of the earlier pages, so excuse me if I'm way off track.

It must be at least 80% PDN (just to throw an obscure percentage in the mix). You are allowed to use other programs; be sure to specify in your post all that is done externally as stock imagery.

You may provide pretty much as many screenshots as you like (within reason), but you only need one to enter. I would say that if you get up towards twenty-ish (that would be quite a few), you should seriously consider stopping there and entering.
And a general note to remember: unless your screenshots are small, please post extra screenshots after your first as clickable thumbnails (read about how to do this).

What you're about to see (and hopefully participate in) is promising to be a battle of the epic variety. Yes, it's going to be that good.
What's Goin' On?
By popular demand, this will be a special competition. Shake off the term "skinning" and go wild; it's time to design and create your own application.
As a bonus, you will have two months to get it together and submitted.
Whoa.
That's right. So go grab your beverage of choice, crank up the music, and let's see some creative juice flow!
Wai-wai-wait a minute - What about restrictions?
Well, there aren't many. You may make any application you want. It could be as simple as a calculator, or as complicated as, shall I say, Photoshop?
Even so, consider carefully when creating. If you decide to create something quite complicated, try to make it easy to understand and un-cluttered; e.g. Paint.NET, vs. the GIMP. And though you are allowed to make something brain-searingly simple, when it comes time to vote, don't expect to win hands down. On the other hand, a cleverly designed small app. could easily be just as effective as a complex one.
But now, for some rules:

Oh yeah! The brown contrasts well with the blue of the logo. The green is good because green is an awesome color. Those and black seem to be the best options. Including white, of course.
I'm trying to imagine the "Baby" on bb00 jr....

Could you give some more information on the name of the item you are trying to open? For example: does it end with ".gif" or ".exe".
