  1. I'd like to request an aspect ratio control in resize and canvas tools. I wanted to change some non standard format picture in 4:3 canvas sized format and in the end i found myself dividing values by hand in calculator to get proper value from height for width of some higher resolution. It shouldn't present bigger troubles to impliment this in Paint.NET since you'd be doing the same, just inside program itself (divide height by 3 and multiply new value with 4 and you get the width according to 4:3 ratio). Entering your own ratio rather than just 16:9 and 4:3 would be even better. I hope you understand what i mean and i also hope you'll impliment this in some next Paint.NET build
  2. Hehe, i made my own (with Paint.NET of course ) for my webpages
  3. Here is few of my works in Paint.NET... Retouched screenie from game NFS:MW inlcuding some mition blur effects on cars... Entirely made in Paint.NET... SImple black and white image without any shading You can find even more here: http://rejzor.deviantart.com/ I also use my FRL or Fake Realistic Lightning trick a lot (i mean really a lot). http://paintdotnet.12.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=864 It's very cool for game screenshots to raise the color and lightning realism even more.
  4. Pretty much everything is possible. You just have to dedicate some more time to do the same job.
  5. No, Paint.NET automatically saves BMP files as 24 bit bitmap image. I also kinda miss this feature which i was used to it from PSP9 (mostly for GIFs). It would be also nice to see different dithering methods when scaling down colors so you can dither those colors that are not present in selected bit depth.
  6. Like i said, thats not the point of having PDN files just to store layers when we could have much more flexible file format.
  7. Exactly, and thats why it should be more flexible than just saving layers. I mean i can save 4 PNG files as separate layers and load them up next time. Harsh example but not really much different than just PDN file... Saved histroy would change that completely (so you can load up the file anytime you want, press Ctrl+Z to undo few actions and try something different). This would make PDN files extra useful.
  8. Is there any chance we could see option to adjust anti-aliasing samplerate? Or at least option to enable very high samplerate along with normal one? Lines and fonts are often pretty ugly because they aren't filtered enough. Example: See the left line? And compare it with right one. Small angles make such ugly stairsteps. Also text looks jagged even though Anti-Aliasing was enabled. I don't know how high sample rate you use but higher would certanly be better.
  9. No, i meant you can't save the work and continue it next day or so. But now you simply have to finish it or risk losing all the work in case of power failure or something third. You can alwas clear actions history or flatten the layers but you can't save the work as it is and continue in conditions mentioned above. And when you do something and save it's permamanent. Saving in several different files isn't really the most obvious choice...
  10. Hm, i thought history should remain when you save into PDN format, yet it doesn't. So there is really no point in using this format. Layers aren't really worth it...
  11. I'm working with such stuff nearly every day (malware/spyware) and i can assure everyone that Paint.NET doesn't contain any kind of malicious software or such being attached to it. So stop buzzing and enjoy this excellent pieace of software
  12. Do the hybrids from System Shock 2 and J.C. Denton from Deus Ex My two favorite games
  13. Excellente! Here is the download mirror: http://files.filefront.com/PaintNet_26_ ... einfo.html PS: I'll remove 2.5 and 2.6RC builds from the mirror but the control panel appears to be down.
  14. Just head to: Image\Resize... Enter selected (new) resolution or use percentage control and click Ok. Thats it
  15. Only method that i can think of at the moment is using very low Gaussian blur (like level:1). This will lower grainy look, though it will most probably hide other details as well (in a very small scale)...
  16. Is there any way or trick to add edges to fonts (texts)? Like glow effect of certain color or hard edge with specific edge width and color? I can't seem to find any such manipulation tool in Paint.NET and i really need it atm. Thx
  17. Hm, i assume you wanted to make transitions between different colors more smooth without those hard edges? Interesting i got different final results... Gaussian Blur (30) Motion Blur (30 with 25° angle) Radial Blur (30) I'm using Paint.NET 2.6 Beta2
  18. Rick, take your time, make batch process something for some major release and then make it complete intead of half finished. This way there won't be any whining that you haven't implimented this and that. For last few months i'm using only Paint.NET for all the imaging jobs and i must say i haven't missed a single thing (ok few things here and ther ebut there was always a workaround). Image resizing is also queit fast by using right click extension, though batch resize would be even faster hehe
  19. Resizing quality is bloody potato in that tool compared to super high quality supersampling used in Paint.NET (or Bicubic resample in some rare cases).
  20. Also decreasing colors to only those actually used could nicely reduce final filesize.
  21. Actually i prefer detailed version even though it's not so smooth. This one looks like it's made with watercolors...
  22. Wow, nice tool Rick. It's like playing with 3D modeling software hehe. Too bad that there isn't any ultra high quality sampler that would produce less grainy image. But hey who'd even expect such nice feature in free program
  23. Hehe, my nick is always causing problems to others Thanks, i'll check this feature...
