I am not sure whether it was loading the image (9600x12000@1200dpi, by the way) and crashed due to memory, or because I moved the window, and something happened.

  2. Firstly, wrong forum. Please post stuff like this in General Discussion, where General questions are answered. Secondly, an RGB color palette is not supported, but if you open the color window's Advanced tab, you can see the RGB equivalent of HSV for any pixel.

  3. Just a quirk that I noticed: Here i give the same two files, one in bitmap and one in PNG format. Now i noticed this in IE6's internal PNG viewer, but if one were to take a snapshot of the IE page, one would notice a slight discoloration between the two "same" colors in the two images. e.g., #FF33CC in the BMP might be #FF30CD in the PNG, while in PdN, they are the same (#FF33CC).

    Here are the 2 images:

    BMP:

    color.bmp

    PNG:

    color.png

I have not dug too deeply, but in cases where I use html and need png for with its size it is easy to download, I need that the color of the png go with the background or something else.

  4. You seem to imply that the text tool creates a new layer, which it does not. Therefore, a new layer must be created if you wish to move the text without disturbing other parts of your image.

And once you have your text in a new layer, go to the Tools window, and click on Rectangle Select. Then select a rectangle around your text and click on Move Selection. Now click inside your box and drag to move it.

    Edited for: Grammar

  5. You're right. This project is coming up on its second year (the forums on its first). I joined the bandwagon about early november of last year after hearing about it from a friend. I got into the forums because the install did not work for me (I believe now it was a registry edit problem in the installer). Then there was probably about 225 users at the time. The growth of the community on the forums has been exponential since then (And the use of Paint.NET overall is astounding now also.). I was then all over the bug reporting forum because of my install problem, with no idea of the general discussions other than effects and MDI and a pretty GUI. And I remember somebody complaining about the .NET framework saying it would "mess with his computer". It certainly has progressed. Once I got back to the forums after a period of silence around february and march, seeing the new forums like tutorials (The only person making them was Crazy Man Dan before) and plugins (everyone thought that the implementation was not very capable), I was stunned.

This place has grown a lot.
