Fatal Error during installation (cannot install)

Hi I've had Paint.NET for a while. I decided to update to 3.10 - but it failed to install.

Below is a link to a screenshot of the dialog I got. You can assume I have full and complete admin rights on my PC, the reference to 'permissions' has got to be some sort of red-herring.

As a result of this error, the installation mostly failed. My ProgramFiles shortcut to Paint.NET is there, so it succeeded in uninstalling my old version but failed to install the new one as the shortcut tries to browse for a missing file.

Do you still have .NET Frameworks installed ? if not then that a good reason for Paint.NET not showing in your programs or installing as it needs it for installing and running plus uninstalling.

Are you logged in as an Admin ? If not then do so and try again. Still don't work try installing as Admin in safe mode.

Try searching these forums for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and UnauthorizedAccessException. Someone else had this problem and fixed it at some point. It has to do with the permissions applied to that registry key.
