50s Style?

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to make a poster in Paint.NET that looks like the 50s WWII posters/hand drawn pinup girls. That's the style I'm going for. I want to try and turn a photograph into a background that is in this style. Anyone have any idea how to do this or any plug ins that might help?

The best advice I would offer, and the means by which I would tackle this, is to search Photoshop and/or GIMP tutorials for such artistic styles, to get an idea what would be necessary. Most tutorials for the named applications can be 'translated' quite easily, with the odd sacrifice here and there, but at least it would give you a starting point for Paint.NET. This will narrow down what effects and techniques are needed, and cater for your preference of 1950's styling; your might differ to that of someone else's.

In the meantime, or if you come up short, could you post a few examples of the exact posters you are trying to imitate? There was more than one poster-style during the 1950's, all dependant on country of origin, artist, so on.

I won't ask how what you wrote helps a clearly deceased topic.

It doesn't. Thread Locked

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.
